Ausmus HAD to sit Upton....the guy was giving away ABs. Cabrera? Maybe just a day off?

Nice to have guys like Aviles and Romine who can play anywhere. But wouldn't it be better if you replace one of them with a guy who can hit....even if he can only play one position?

DETROIT -- Cameron Maybin was back in the Detroit Tigers clubhouse on Sunday. The team brought him back to town to undergo an MRI on his right shoulder, as well as to see a doctor and check on how he's feeling the day after before making any further determination on his rehab or otherwise. At this rate, he may soon have a rehab partner in James McCann, who is also expected to begin a short rehab in the near future, before returning to the Tigers.

Little has gone right for Maybin this year. First it was a shoulder injury in the offseason, then he suffered a left wrist fracture in spring training. The latest thing to go awry for Maybin was his shoulder, which he reinjured in a rehab game in Triple-A Toledo on Saturday night. He injured it on a diving catch in center field. The initial injury occurred at his home in Asheville, N.C. and caused him to miss time during spring training.

What next?

I see our old backstop Alex Avila has hit the dL. No not concussion issues...hamstring. He is tearing it up for the White Sox, hitting .214 with 0 HR and 0 RBI. He is in a platoon system with Dionner Navarro who is contributing a .100 BA (yes .100). But he does have 2 RBI!!!!

And yet the Sox are in first place. (But it is a good bet Avila/Navarro are not batting in the #2 spot in the order.) BTW....I checked, between the two they have a total of 15 strikeouts....half of Upton's total. There are at bats....and then there are 'at bats'.

Both teams have lost their starting pitchers today because of injury. Looks like Greene has a blister. Top of the fourth inning

That should be an error to Gose... he took a little Leaguers route to get to that ball or not get to the ball.

With guys getting days off, only thing that I could've seen as a better option would've been Salty at first. But then what'shisnuts is behind the plate. Push.

Not gonna advocate Collins getting starts right now. And Romine n Aviles do need to get some abs.

It's just too bad that VerHagen sucks.

The Tigers have scored 5 run over the last 4 games (even with 3 yesterday), and are hitting a robust .144 over those games (18-for-125). Very strange that the 2-5 hitters all went cold at about the same time. Usually one or two guys hit a slump, but all four at once? That's bad news. Combined with poor starting pitching, and it's a killer.

Jordan Zimmermann gets the start tonight for Detroit. The Tigers have not won since he last pitched, losing four straight since that April 20 game against the Royals.
