This team is so up and down. Going to be like that all year. I like the offense though!

I'm glad to see the money go for the kids youth field.. Keep em off the streets and get them in to sports.
I remember going to Tigers games when I was 7, everybody knew who Willie Horton and Al Kaline were.. I never got one of their foul balls but at least I could go to school and brag about being at the game

The plans look impressive for The Corner.

It'll be great someday when a Detroit kid makes it to the big leagues thanks to learning the game where the Tigers played for a century.

My first game at the Corner was 1960....I have taken my kids there and this year will take my grandkids to Comerica with a drive by of the Corner. ..

I don't know if they've started construction at Michigan and Trumbull yet. But a few times over the last few years I've swung by and went on the old field after day games. Couple times there were pick up games going on.

Something fun if the kiddos have a glove with em.

I think my first game was with my Pee Wee league team, which would make it 1971. I remember the Tigers played the Orioles and lost, but not much else.

Yeah, you called that 4-for-5 game, didn't you!

Looks like Upton will rival Cabrera for HR distance this year. Hit it in the CF camera well!

Upton's solo shot

Former Detroit Tigers' broadcaster Paul Carey has died at the age of 88. Carey is best known as Ernie Harwell's broadcast partner, working Tigers' games for 19 seasons, including the team's last World Championship in 1984.

Carey replaced Ray Lane in the broadcast booth for WJR radio starting in 1973, and worked the middle fourth, fifth and sixth innings through the 1991 season. He was born in Mount Clemens, attended Central Michigan and then Michigan State University, and had worked 17 years as a sportscaster around Michigan, including broadcasting the Detroit Pistons, before hooking up with Harwell to work Tigers' games.

So, a scoreless inning in garbage time for F-Rod yesterday, and his ERA plummets to 11.57.

I will refuse to call him "K-Rod" until I see him hit 90 MPH on the radar gun. More fastballs at 88-89 yesterday. Not a good sign.

Hey iffy,

What's your take on these new DBacks unis?

I could do without them...but they aren't totally offensive or anything. I guess they will have to wait and see how their jersey sales go, to see if they stick with them beyond one year.

The kids will have gloves with them and so will I. I'm not sure my fastball will have the heat it did 45 years ago but hey everybody's a kid when you're at the corner.
After a catch on the field will head to Nemo's for a hamburger and pop. Too bad Hoots isn't open anymore I spent a lot of time there.
