I'm not from Missouri, but I guess I say, "Show Me." Boyd hasn't demonstrated the ability to get MLB hitters out consistently YET. Doesn't mean he won't.
i would be more worried about it if his minor league numbers weren't absolutely dominant. its one thing to be a solid minor leaguer and struggle.. but rarely does a guy have a career minor league era of 2.48 with a whip of .989 and struggle the way boyd did. i am not saying the guy is front line starter material... but when you k 9.2 per inning and only walk 2.1 per inning over 3 years in the minors you probably are going to be better than what he showed last year.

Yet you contend that Yan Gomes, who has a longer track record of better success across 2013-2014 and suffered a devastating injury in 2015, is "a bum."

Homersayswhat?
yan gomes is an average at best catcher... shane greene is a back end starter... comparing the two in some context is odd... to say the least... yan gomes is a bum.

There's a whole lot of area between improving on what he showed last year and being a top-25 AL pitcher.

It is possible, but it would shock the fuck out of me if Boyd and Greene's ERAs both ranked in the top 25 in the AL. It would shock the fuck out of the Tigers' front office, too.

I think Al Avila would shoot a wad through the skybox ceiling if he got that kind of production from those two.

Tigers should mash, but Not a fan of the Tigers starting staff

I might be the only one that doesnt see such a smooth transition for Jordan Zimmerman into the AL...Have never been a fan of his, and could see him being a madly inconsistent Jeff Szmardjianjehdgwej type...

Verlander, can you really count on an entire season of 2nd half 2015 production? Maybe, they better hope so

Anibal Sanchez seems to have completely lost his ability to avoid contact

Daniel Norris may be good some day, but probably youthful inconsistency for a year or 2

I wouldnt expect much from Shane Greene...I always wonder about guys that had no minor league track record, it was a big reason the Yankees decided to part with him, they thought he pitched above his head for them in 2014

Tough and entertaining division this season

i am not saying its going to happen... i am just saying that seeing as greene has already done it once... and boyd has minor league numbers on par or better than the top prospects in baseball its not like it should be a huge shock.

It wouldn't suprise me at all if Boyd ended up having a better year than norris to be honest. Seeing him in person the other day.. he completely dominated the cardinals lineup.. he made matt holliday look like a fool multiple times.

the simple fact that zimmermann has a career ERA of 3.05 and 1.20 whip in 153.2 innings vs AL teams should pretty much tell you that there isn't going to be some huge drop off.

After the first six games of 2015, when he was clearly still getting into MLB game shape, Verlander had a 2.27 ERA in his last 14 starts. Do I expect an ERA that low, or even an ERA under 3.00 for a full season in 2016? No. But I think my low-3's guesstimate is not a farfetched prediction.

Very possible, he should be the least of their concerns.....I ran into Kate Upton in my building a week ago, so nothing will stop me now from being a fan of JV

I think cumulative seasons of health problems hurt Anibal last year. After demonstrating a superb ability to limit home runs over his career, he gave up 29 bombs in only 25 starts last year. I'm sure hoping we can call that a one-off fluke, and not a trend. The fact that he hasn't made 30 starts in a season since 2012 is the bigger issue.

Sanchez scares the shit out of me.. but if he is healthy.. the guy might have the best pure stuff in the entire AL Central.

Meh. I wouldn't put too much stock in the outcome of 24 random starts scattered over seven seasons against lineups that have never seen him and likely weren't as prepared for him as they'll be in 2016. Particularly when those numbers indicate that he'll be better than he was in the NL.

The list of pitchers that move from the NL to the AL and don't see some degree of a bump is a short one.

Thus my post yesterday that I think Zimm will be quite good in the first half of 2016. Teams that see him a second or third time may hit him better. Figuring about a 3.00 ERA in the first half, upper-3's for the second half.

In case you were wondering, the number of Tigers fans posting on the Yankees board is zero.

Now, if you'll please excuse me, I'm about to spill some DNA on my keyboard over Shane F Greene.

Since interleague play expanded the list has grown considerably.
