You're also an asshole.
You aren't the first person to tell me that. Won't be the last.

Possible scenario: Tuesday night Castellanos takes a foul ball off the big toe. DL isn't needed but he'll need a day off (maybe two). Romine takes his place for the Wednesday day game. Your bench is now, Collins, Saltalamachia, and Goss. Tiger middle infielder goes down in the fifth......whatcha do?
Who cares if he can "play" multiple positions if he sucks at everyone at this point of his career.
Fuck... if you are going to sign someone for a utility role... and have a budget of 2 mil... you can find other guys that would have fit better than shit ass aviles to hold that roster spot. That is my biggest gripe. I could care less if Collins makes the team... he is a fringe MLB caliber player that is replacement level which Aviles is not even capable of being described as. Aviles was brought in at a price that could have landed a left handed bat that could play outfield and infield positions. The move made no sense. Don Kelly would have been a smarter signing... I would have rather seen the Tigers go into the season with Collins and made a move if need be instead of locking themselves into that cheese dick.LOL. This was always my retort when Mario or Rod would mention how Raburn was valuable because he could play multiple positions. Umm, not if he plays them all BADLY.
That said, the Tigers had inklings of working Romine into the outfield rotation some last season, but he would up playing a whopping 3 innings out there. At least Aviles has had a reasonable amount of experience in the OF, if the goal is to have that swingman.
Though I agree Iffy made some good arguments to keep Aviles, but my gut still says keep Collins and Romine, because both can bat lefty, and the Tiger lineup is too RH-heavy. If I need a pinch hitter in the ninth against an RH reliever, I want Collins on my bench over Aviles, whose splits against RHPs have plummeted over the last 3 seasons (.269 to .237 to .219). If I need a pinch runner or defensive replacement, Romine > Aviles, but Romine is no better as a hitter vs. RHPs (.229 career vs. RHP, .287 career vs. LHP).

Howie....I honestly don't care if they keep Aviles. The Tigers DO need a swingman that has most of his experience in the infield. It appears that Ausmus might continue to use Romine at third as a late inning defensive replacement. Thus, it would make sense to have someone else on the roster who can play the infield too.
As for Vice....I am afraid that the posters at this site are in for his egotistical rants and personal insults for the duration of his stay.
As for pinch hitting. I agree that Detroit needs a lefty bat....but we are talking about Tyler Collins here. How many players in the lineup are you going to lift for Tyler Collins?
C-McCann
1b-Cabrera
2b-Kinsler
ss-Iglesias
3b-Castellanos
Lf-Upton
Rf-Maybin
Rf-JD Martinez
DH-VMartinez
I went through this before.....how often would Collins be called upon to pinch hit? If you PH for an infielder, you might also need to replace the player he pinch hit for. Gose would PH for Maybin and Saltamachia for McCann.
Now I agree that paying Aviles $2mil seems to be excessive for the role he'll play. (Is he suppose to be a great clubhouse guy?) My personal view? Keep Collins at Toledo as a possible replacement for VMart....I have a feeling that Detroit will be looking for help at the DH spot.
and once again iffy... you are acting like I am suggesting Collins is the answer.. he is just clearly a better answer than Aviles. Do you want to see Aviles play SS or 2nd base late in a game? I sure as fuck don't.Howie....I honestly don't care if they keep Aviles. The Tigers DO need a swingman that has most of his experience in the infield. Collins would clearly pinch hit over McCann, Iglesias, and Maybin in late inning situations vs a righty.
Gose would NOT pinch hit over Collins... Seriously.. you are brain dead. Collins OPS (.732) vs Gose OPS (.688)... jesus christ you post some dumb shit.Sorry....if available...Salty (B), Gose (L)....
Not to get too personal, Vice....but you do realize that you are calling Aviles names like 'cheese dick'? Why? Just because you disagree with his POSSIBLE inclusion on the team? Or because you are so desperate to prove you are right in this ''argument''? The guy hasn't played on inning yet!!! Yet HE is a cheese dick? Shouldn't the cheese dick handle go to the GM? Golly, gosh

25th players on the roster most certainly make a difference... Losing that roster spot to a guy that can't field or hit is not the way you build a winner. So endeth the thrilling discussion about WHO should be the 25th man on the Tiger roster. Stay tuned for further novellas on the backend of the bullpen, the asst batting coach, and outfield positioning.
Oh yes...I am sure the Rotund Rondon saga will be revisited soon!!!!
