the #1 -#3 hopefully start 95+ games combined. take a look at what the average WAR is of a #4 or #5 starter...
boyd, greene, fulmer, norris will probably start the rest of the 65+ games not started by the 1-3... those guys are more than capable of winning 40% of the games they start. If the top 3 win close to 60% and start 95 games... that would put the tigers at 84 wins and right in the mix for the division. 60% is probably on the high side for the 1-3.... but 40% is most likely on the low side for the guys in the 4-5...

So when I said 40% earlier and you decided to educate me on how a rotation is used during a season, it wasn't because my 40% was overvaluing them. What was the motivating factor there?

If 33 is about the maximum amount of starts per year....Golden Trio could hit 99. Leaving 63 for 4 and 5. So, they'd have to hit 31 and 32. Of course, someone could fill if there is a Dblheader....but I don't see a way of reducing that many starts for the 4 and 5 guys.

I was working on YOUR statement that the 4-5 starters can be marginalized. I was pointing out that those POSITIONS have about as many starts as 1-3. I was showing that the POSITIONS of 4 and 5 are important
