Tigers' Matt Boyd: Will remain in big league rotation
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire
Boyd will remain in the Tigers' rotation for now, ESPN's Katie Strang reports.

With Mike Pelfrey (back) landing on the 15-day DL on Tuesday, Boyd will take the ball on Saturday against the Mets after beating out Daniel Norris for the last spot in the rotation with some solid recent starts. Boyd's 4.71 ERA doesn't tell the whole story, as he has a 2.35 ERA in the second half and a 1.27 WHIP on the season, so he is worth a look in deeper leagues.

Boyd vs Norris......Who do you prefer.......Sanchez vs Pelfrey who do you prefer......Just a bunch of mix bags.....Maybe Ausmus can use some super glue and duct tape and tie it together with some yarn to make it work......

If we are going to compete for the AL Central, we can't let any old Canadian coach 3rd base. :)
They will start waving VMart and Miggy in from 2nd on infield hits.

I was driving home from the airport when that play happened, and I'm thinking there's no way even Dave Clark would be stupid enough to send him. I'm thinking Vmart did that on his own, trying to catch Abreu napping.

Boyd's had some tough luck getting wins, but with a 2.21 ERA in his last four starts, he deserves to stay in the rotation.

Pelfrey.
I think they are going to need and use all the starting pitchers from here to the end of the season. U can never have enough pitching....
What are the Tigers going to with Collins one JD is back? I say keep him and move Avlias

DETROIT -- The Detroit Tigers optioned reliever Dustin Molleken to Triple-A Toledo Wednesday night, creating an opening for starter Jordan Zimmermann to be activated for Thursday's game.

The move means that, at least for now, the Tigers will go with a 12-man pitching staff and a seven-man bullpen. It's also a temporary reprieve for outfielder Tyler Collins, who will remain on the roster even after the return of starting right fielder J.D. Martinez.
Collins has hit .314 with three home runs in 40 plate appearances since joining the Tigers after the All-Star break.

Maybin's sprained thumb may keep Collins around even longer. Cameron looked like he couldn't swing without pain that last AB. Sure hope it isn't serious .... losing Maybin right after we get JD back would suck.

Maybin is injured. Not sure WTF is the reason for sitting Victor. These guys just had a day off Monday.

I think so too. Wouldn't be surprised at all if Sanchez is called on to start again this season. I really don't know who I expect more from Norris or Boyd. But long term, I think Norris has much more to offer.

Pelfrey is consistent. Not good, but consistently not completely horrid. His back acted up on him in a timely fashion Atleast.

Glad that Collins is sticking around. Four outfielders and an Aviles seems like the way to go.

Victor was in then scratched, my guess is a bruised toe after the foul ball last night.

Excuse @themuzzer - he thinks every starter should play 162 games. The bench guys are there only for catastrophic injuries. :)

I keep hearing conflicting things on Norris. He is at Toledo and his AAA pitching has been erratic this year. Anyone know the plans the Tigers have for him? Just my opinion...but I wonder if Boyd has passed him on the depth chart, at least momentarily.

Agreed, but that bruised toe wasn't enough to take him out of the game last nite, it shouldn't be enough to sit him today......Pampered players.....I'll play for 100k a year with a missing foot.......

Muzz sounds more like a crotchety old man than I do....and I'm probably twice his age.

Muzz....tell those kids to get off your lawn.

Back in my day, we didn't have lawns....we had dirt! And we were glad to have it!!!

I'd pay 100k to be in the Majors for 1 year. How many time do you see a 1st baseman batting 9th? Vmart is tough though and you can bring him in if they are down. I am feeling real good about this team, but I am bipolar about my Tigers a five game losing and I getting out the razor (good thing it's electric).
