Dude you look in a tunnel. I never said Aumus is 100% at fault jackass. I stated that he makes many mistakes that Leyland did not. Players themselves sucking are mostly on them and the GM that acquired them. Not the manager. The 8th inning blunder of of PHing V-Mart with 1st base open was all on Ausmus however. He adds to the shit more than most managers. Plain and simple.
Do you think he didn't expwct the intentional walk?

I assumed it. And assumed there'd be a pinch runner and another pinch hitter to follow. The bottom of our order is horrible. Straight up garbage right now. Id let a pitcher bat over McCann, Gose or Iggy, almost.

I'm not sure they would've walked Salty if he'd hit for McCann. Maybe, maybe not. But if we had anyone other than Aviles and Collins left, Id have been fine with a third straight pinch hitter had Salty got on. Even though a pitcher would be as good as either of the options we had left off the bench.

I'm surprised nobody is mad he let Sanchez bat And then took him out in the bottom half without recording an out. (He was in the low 80's pitch wise to start the inning, then forgot how to field.). Not that I wanted any other move, just figured people wouldn't like it, given the results.

Dude!!! As I figured. I checked back on the 2013 Tiger thread....and you were all for firing ''the bum'' Leyland at that time. NOW, you hold him up as a positive example. (?????)

I won't say any more. I can see where you come from...the school of ''instant gratification''. You are mad and you want action now. I am sure you and someone else will have this same conversation about 2 years down the road - probably about Lloyd McClendon.

May 10.....not yet a quarter of the season is over. Even negative old Iffy hasn't given up hope. Remember, the AL is the league of parity, of mediocrity. (Right @Voltaire26 ). The Tigers won't have to go 35-5 over the next 40 games to get back in the race for a post season spot. Much less will do. The Tigers will hit and score runs in bunches...and then they won't...in some sort of odd cycle. One, or maybe even two, starting pitchers not named Zimmermann, will begin to pitch well enough to give the Tiger offense a good chance to win the games they start. Let's give the Tigers, Ausmus, and dougplayer a little while longer!

As for Ausmus....he might get broomed. But that has nothing to do with the players' performances or lack of it. Whether he stays or not will be determined by the team's PR people, not those focused on the on field activity.

Just a hunch..... if the front office does not voice its backing of Ausmus during the next few days....adios Brad.

There is no defending what he did last night other than the Sanchez bunt bobble. Easily his worst game of the year so far. Anyone can see that. Every other baseball forum but this one agrees.

So, is this goodbye? If not...what better managerial skill set will Legendary Lloyd (or Fat Gene) bring to the table? I can sort of guess your answer....but I AM curious.

BTW...concerning Ausmus (and I think even S.Fla/Mexico mentioned this)....if they fire Ausmus, he will probably be near the head of the line to fill any (near) future managerial openings.

Local high school softball game, here. Opposing pitcher struck out 17 batters. That means that out of the 21 outs she recorded (7 inning game), only four outs had a chance to do anything to help the team. (Pitcher did give up a couple hits and 3(?) walks). I was wondering how much input our team's coach had on her offense during that game? What did she DO to help her team score during those 17 Ks?

Monday...out of the 27 outs Tiger batter recorded, 14 were by strikeout. (Including 3 by the #5 hitter)

I sure as fuck don't want Lloyd but Ausmus needs to be fired regardless.

I am not sure, but if you are going to get rid of a manager during the season, wouldn't it be logical to bring someone in familiar with team operations AND someone with experience. Concerning Detroit, that seems to put McLendon, Lamont, and Trammell* in front of the line. They tried bringing in a guy with little coaching and no managerial experience...and you want to fire him. So, IMO, Detroit would look foolish to repeat that scenario. Thus....if Ausmus goes, I'd put my money on Lloyd as the next manager. (Unless Avila wants to clean house and bring in an entire new staff....something not usually done mid season.)

*I am sure Tram would be a popular pick, I just wonder if he is still interested in managing?

What I mean is I'd accept Lloyd as the interim manager as they find someone else in the off season. Or give Omar Vizquel ashot.

I'd be all for it this off season

Pre-game rumor has it that Nat's starting pitcher, Joe Ross, turned in his uniform and left the ballpark...mumbling something about the Tiger's 5-9 hitters and the 1927 Yankees!

Justin Upton has started 31 games this year. He has struck out at least once in every game but one. 51 total counting Tuesday's first 7 innings.

Probably one of the greatest managed games I ever saw. One or two more of those and Ausmus wears a Tiger hat into the Hall of Fame!
