As soon as the third baseman throw the ball to second you gotta run from third.... What the fuck is with Upton and the third base coach.?
Shoulda left on contact imo. Rather have two one and one down. But taking off on the throw woulda worked too.

He's not my favorite player ever.

Toledo Mud Hens 12, Gwinnett Braves 5 (box)
Steven Moya hit two home runs as part of a four-hit game, and the Mud Hens won their third game in a row. Toledo had no trouble with Braves top prospect Lucas Sims, roughing him up for eight runs (six earned) on eight hits in four innings. Chad Huffman and Nate Schierholtz also homered for Toledo, while Casey McGehee added three hits and an RBI. Mud Hens starter Warwick Saupold earned the win despite allowing five runs in 5 1/3 innings.
Moya: 4-5, 2B, 2 HR, 3 R, 5 RBI
McGehee: 3-4, 2B, 3 R, RBI
Huffman: 2-5, HR, 2 R, 2 RBI, SO
Schierholtz: 3-3, HR, R, 2 RBI
Saupold (W): 5.1 IP, 6 H, 5 ER, 3 BB, 3 SO
Coming up next: Matt Boyd (1-2, 3.05 ERA) starts against Gwinnett's Casey Kelly (1-0, 2.33 ERA) as the Mud Hens look for a road sweep.

STARTING PITCHERS
Detroit Tigers
RH Michael Fulmer (1-0, 3.60 ERA)
Lifetime vs. Indians: Never faced Cleveland

Cleveland Indians
RH Trevor Bauer (1-0, 5.28 ERA)
Lifetime vs. Tigers: 3-2, 6.81 ERA

Miguel Cabrera, Nick Castellanos and Justin Upton all extended their hitting streaks Wednesday in Detroit's 4-0 loss. Cabrera was 1-for-4 to make it nine games, Castellanos 2-for-3 to reach seven games and Upton 1-for-4 to hit six games.

* Speaking of Castellanos, he's 31-for-72 and hitting .431 against right-handed pitchers this season.

Moya.....hitting better than Maybin at Toledo. Just too bad he can't play CF. Unless they trade him, Moya will stay at Toledo waiting for an injury in Detroit. (With VMart, there is always that possibility.)

Considering he only hit about .235 against RHPs last year, this is encouraging, even if there is no way it can last. Nick's overall BABIP is a ridiculous .455 right now, which is completely unsustainable. If he was striking out less, I'd say we could look forward to a .300 season. But he's currently on pace to strike out about 140 times with the same number of plate appearances as last year (just shy of 600). That's only a minor drop from his 152 Ks in 2015.

Looking at the broader stats, I still expect modest improvements from Nick over a full season -- BA in the .270-.280 range with 18-20 HR.

Fulmer is now part of the 6.00+ ERA club. Welcome aboard.

Zimmermann, Sanchez, Verlander, Pelfrey and ????? Is it Boyd's turn now? Norris on deck?

I wonder if Moya could be worth somebody's #5 starter?

I know @broncosmitty will scream....but Iglesias would bring a bottom of the rotation starter....one that is better than what the Tigers have. I know we'd miss those extra base hits Iggy supplies....but....

I agree with the "poor game plan". Ausmus has the AL Pitcher of the Month (Zimmermann) on a normal 4 days of rest, and he goes with a young rookie against a division rival. You're supposed to take advantage of those early season off days, and he didn't. Stoopid.

Actually, the game plan I was referring to was Fulmer's/pitching coach. He did not seem to fool Tribe batters in 1st inning. Wrong pitch selections...or perhaps his stuff was just ''off'' to start the game?
As for starting Zimmermann. I would have understood that decision if he went that way. But the team had to see what they have in Fulmer. A tough call for Ausmus....didn't work out.

With a bunch of teams losing starting pitchers to arm problem's, or just bad play (Danks in Chi), finding starting pitching will be difficult. I'll predict arms will sell high at the trade deadline. (If conditions are right...Verlander to Dodgers, if they eat a chunk of change?). It appears Detroit will have to play the cards it was dealt, as far as starters go. I see a game of musical chairs coming up.

I see MLB is thinking of expanding by 2 teams. IMO...they should lose a couple...no need to delute the player pool any more than it has been.

According to Commish Mighty Manfred...Montreal and (bronco's favorite) Mexico City are the two favored cities.

I was pulling for Windsor, Ontario and Brooklyn

Of course, Windsor, the hometown of Reno Bertoia would be called the "Windsor Bertoias" and would have Italian Night for 82 games a season.
