Rick Porcello 5-0 2.87...
Fulmer is four years younger and has an ERA under 7. Plus, that one minor leaguer should be off his drug suspension soon.

It's crazy we weren't screaming for DD to be fired before last year even started. I was afraid Avila would be hired, or I mightve.

As for starting Zimmermann. I would have understood that decision if he went that way. But the team had to see what they have in Fulmer. A tough call for Ausmus....didn't work out.

Should have started our best (Zimmermann) against the ALC team, and started Fulmer against Texas tonight, IMO.

I always supported Ricky and believe the trade to get Cespedes was bad.

Anyone else see kind of a lackadaisical attitude from Miggy? Not that he's been worthless, but it seems he is not hitting a lot of pitches solidly. His strikeout % is up slightly and is Slg% is down. His BABIP is a little low for him, so things could move up. Maybe it's just me, but it seems he is going through the motions at times. I know, I know...he'll get hot when the weather does.

Wouldn't surprise me if he's one of the guys who gets popped for PEDs.

Cuz his effort level is definitely down this year.

Columbus Clippers 9, Toledo Mud Hens 2 (box)

Daniel Norris struggled once again, allowing seven runs on eight hits in just 2 1/3 innings of work. Five of the seven outs he recorded were strikeouts, but he also walked four. Dixon Machado was the lone bright spot for the Mud Hens offense, collecting three hits and an RBI. The Hens stole three bases off of Clippers starter Mike Clevinger, but were only able to plate a couple runs after going 2-for-6 with runners in scoring position.

Machado: 3-4, RBI, SO, SB
Moya: 1-4, 3B, R, 2 SO
Maybin: 0-2, R, 2 BB, SO, SB
Norris (L): 2.1 IP, 8 H, 7 ER, 4 BB, 5 SO

it feels like we start every game down. It seems every batter is ahead in the count. It seems like every one of our batters are down 0-2. and now this. I stand by what I say the Tigers are proving that a salary cap is meaningless if teams spend money on trash. and the pitchers name is pelt me.

There is no salary cap in baseball.

Detroit's best weapon right now is not their offense, but the parity in the American League. After the White Sox, the next 11 teams in the AL are separated by only 4 games. Eleven teams! Teams 2 through 12! You can be plain old mediocre and be in the post season race. The Detroit offense will catch fire often enough for this team to be mediocre....so if things stay the same....they could have a shot at post season just by being MEDIOCRE!

Bingo Tigers proving unlimited spending potential does not mean winning.

Unlimited spending and "Poor" spending are two different things. Detroit has spent poorly as much as they have over-spent.

Appears Detroit is spiraling downward as the relief pitching is starting to weaken. It is only May, and I am already tired of watching Upton boot balls in the outfield, strikeout, and provide little to the offense.

I'll predict arms will sell high at the trade deadline. (If conditions are right...Verlander to Dodgers, if they eat a chunk of change?).

would like to see that happen if the s**t show continues.
Ah hell, would like to see it happen regardless.
and Sanchez too

Yo Smitty, my nephew pitched a 15K 7 inning complete game yesterday.....They won 2-1 but had to do it in the bottom of the 7th.....It was a nail biter.....He was making some batters look silly.....He was on his game....Still only a junior and max preps has him ranked 45th in the state of TN.....Scholarship is looking more and more likely.
