Nice win by the Tigers. Mad Max with 10K's, Smyly goes 4 up 4 down, and Benoit gets the 1 out save. KC getting blown out so back into 1st for our boys.
I still would like to see Detroit try to pry one of those SS prospects out of the Diamondbacks! Porcello is not giving Detroit anything Smyly isn't and I would feel better with a lefthander in the rotation!
One of the most frustrating things about last years team was the number of solo shot homers hit. Has anyone else noticed that even though the Tigers haven't hit a ton of homers this year, they seem to be getting homers more often with men on base than last year?
What is a stranger situation: 1) our old friend Jason Grilli leading the league in saves going 10 for 10 or 2) the Pirates actually have 10 wins? (I know, probably due to Inge's intangibles sweeping across the team.)
Inge was big in the downriver area in Detroit. It will be no surprise if Inge has tons of fans in a city where three rivers meet. I am sure that Inge's Pirates jerseys are big sellers with plump women in Pitts.
Raburn goes 4-4 for the injuns. 2 HR's.....bwahahahaha now they will be suckered into playing him more. Nice solid victory over the twins...dirks about to break outta slump? JV needs a JV game tonight. Keep the pitch count down. Its the twins, no need to get pretty.
Raburn, Inge, and, to a lesser extent, Boesch are all doing fairly well for their new teams. As long as any one of them is not used as an everyday starter...they could do well all season. (Inge will be playing 2B for the Pirates while Walker is out)
One thing nice about sports....if you hack on a particular poor player and then he goes to another team and does well...you can always fall back and blame the coaches of the players former team. (see: Curtis Granderson)
I'd support a Ramon Santiago for Brandon Inge trade. Ingey Poo could probably carry the same batting average from the left side as Ol' Ramon. With a lot more power. Just too bad he couldnt face the fact he was a utility while still in Detroit.
Here’s the Detroit Tigers’ starting lineup for tonight’s home game against the Minnesota Twins (7:08 p.m., FSD).
1. Austin Jackson, CF
2. Torii Hunter, RF
3. Miguel Cabrera, 3B
4. Prince Fielder, 1B
5. Victor Martinez, DH
6. Andy Dirks, LF
7. Jhonny Peralta, SS
8. Alex Avila, C
9. Omar Infante, 2B
well this is the time to put the hammer to the rest of the division in may we get the astros 7 times, pirates 4 times , twins 4 times and the tribe 6 times.
Couldn't agree with you more Adrian. I am pleased to get through April in 1st and being through our only West Coast trip. Wouldn't be surprised at all if May is when they pull away and are in 1st for rest of the season. ...and yes all you naysayers, I do remember it wasn't quite that easy last year. Well the Tigers just finished beating up on the Twins and now it is time to see if the Red Wings can do the same tonight to the Ducks.
