Whew nice win. Great to get max to 9-0. Papa does his usual give us a heart attack routine. But its a win. Does max start the all star game if he keeps winning? Leyland picks the pitchers right? Hes faithful to his guys.

I'd really like to sit on Detroit's bench and get the feel for why this offense seems to turn on and off so suddenly. I don't just mean from one game to the next...but why they put up a big inning early in a game and then run off a string of zeros for the rest of the game. Lack of mental focus or some kind.

From what I heard yesterday, iffster, the team's low-scoring games are almost all on the road, where they are 14-17. That needs to improve, because I can't see us keeping up this .688 (22-10) pace at home.

Anyway, nice to see the Tigers win a 1-run game, where they also struggle (7-9 now). And scratching out a couple runs on the legs of Andy Dirks and a sac fly by Victor. Not thrilled about the 10 LOBs, but they didn't cost us this time.

Yes, JL would pick the pitchers. Right now, I'd put Clay Buckholz in the lead -- he's 9-0 like Scherzer, but with a 1.71 ERA. Loyal or not, I can't see JL ignoring that if things stay the same. You could also make a case for Yu Darvish (7-2, 2.75, league-leading 118 Ks).

Boesch Update......BB is at Scranton-Wilkes Barre (yes he is a RailSplitter!) batting .200 with 0 HRs. SWB has placed him on their 7 Day DL. (Listed in one spot as "Unable to Perform"...but we knew that in Detroit.)
