Muzz...I have to agree. That was a bonehead decision. Leyland needs to be brought into the front office and questioned about this. That was beyond dumb.....

Leyland will lose this locker room quick......His decisions effect pay checks......Everytime he Puts Santiago, Putkonen, Valverde etc etc in the game. He's fucking with wins and losses......Pitchers and Agents go to bat with managment over crap like that in negotiating contracts......

Managment can say but you loss 12 games last year.......We don't think you deserve said money.....When in fact it is ole smokey messing with future contracts.

Well, Lee-Lands flubs another. Smyly gives up a single, time to bring in Mama Fatso. BOOM, game tied.

Bet ya Verlander doesn't take Mama Fatso to dinner tonight.

Dumbo, get on your J-O-B. This team NEEDS a new closer, and soon.

Agreed. That is also our problem the second our starter is pulled. With our pen the 7th, 8th, 9th inning always becomes small ball and we are not set up for that. This will be our downfall in the playoffs unless we get serious pen relief and a actual closer, not a guy that has beard coloring problems.

I don't even want Valverde picthing the 6th Inning let alone the 9th.

Well boyz, who's worst, Mama Fatso or Choke? Throw Capt Mumbles in there and you got . . . . . . .

Terrible loss today, just pathetic. How many LOB's were there? 17 ?????

Tigers are an imperfect team. It is no more Leyland's fault than whomever wants to take credit for putting this ball club together. They are crafted as a big inning team....if they don't get one, their chances of winning a game are no better (and may be worse) than any team. Detroit is just another example of why a slugging team with no speed or defense will stumble as much as it will succeed.

(Muzz....where did you come up with your missive about agents and contracts? Sounds like stuff someone would spout back in 1962.)

I am having a hard time understanding why fans are surprised that the Tigers stumble form time to time. That is the nature of this team. You can't hide their weaknesses (bullpen, defense, up and down offense) every game. Just roll with it and keep your fingers crossed that they get to 10 games over .500 - that should be enough to get them a division title.

Of course you can blame Leyland for every lose....it IS the easy way out and lets you ignore the teams actual deficiencies.

In a effort to maybe get you interested in actually spending your time on the D-Backs board. You will find you will have more success with your posts when posting on a team board that actually might want you there.
You still going at it with the Desert rat.....easier not to read the crap......:suds:

LOL. yanking on burf's short hairs. Hilarious.

Why am I so important to you burf? And why are you not capable of ignoring me without child-like devices? I find it very sad that you can't carry on a baseball discussion without some personal problem of yours interfering?

BTW....you don't sound like a kid.....why not act like an adult. Ignore what you don't like and comment on what interests you? (other than me, I mean)

Just some rambling thoughts. Lots of hatred being aimed at Valverde and Leyland after today's game. I often wonder why other 'failures' are so often overlooked when a team loses a tough game. Like - where was Cabrera today? Or Vmart? Why did Verlander struggle with his pitch count? He only gave up what...3 hits and 2 walks? Yet he barely made it through 7 innings. If he could have thrown his 117 pitches through 8 or 9 innings....wouldn't that have helped the team a lot, considering the awful state of the Tiger's bullpen. I still question the continued use of VMart as full-time DH. Why not Tui? Or get a decent reserve infielder and give Peralta a few games at DH...or Cabrera. How long until Avila starts no more than 1 or 2 games a week? (Maybe just when there is a day game following a night game?) Of course my biggest question....is the Valverde experiment over? And if so - what next?
