well I guess since I sit down the RF line at Comerica and get the full of view of BB butchering balls in the corner my opinion is also a bit skewed.

However BB a slightly higher Fielding % and raburn a slightly higher range factor according to baseball reference. neither will see a gold glove.

Your really going to hate that I have Wade Miley , Putz and Bell on my fantasy team. They all kinda suck, some more then others, but I had no choice when I was left with leftovers to complete my roster.

Not that I care about anyone's fantasy team...but I am sure that there are people out there that are unhappy that their fantasy team has leftovers like Dotel, Avila, and Porcello.

2 steps forward one step back. we have to be able to go into KC and dominate this team. hopefully we can win the next 2.

any body see the clip of Miggy throwing his gum at Raburn??? when ryan the great was rounding 3rd on his homer..miggy threw his gum at him. hit him in the chest..Raburn was laughing.

I saw the banter, but wasn't sure what happened.....I knew it was in good fun.......

Boesch is still superman, the D-backs will always stink.

I didnt like raturd, BUT it was all really jimmys fault. If he would of used raburn as a utility guy instead of starting him almost every day, and then topping it off with him batting 2nd or higher than he should of. Raburn should of started when lefties were on the mound. Not 5 games a week or more like he did.

About stats being overated.....is it true i believe i heard that ben zobrist has the highest WAR this year or over the past so many years? Not sure what it was but i heard it somewhere. If so, WAR is a stupid stat. Zobrist is good, but damn.

And about the game. What a waste of a good pitching performance. I still think the royals will be the tigers main competition. Just dont get swept this series and give them any more confidence then they need.

Muzz probably ratted him out too.

It appears that the Royals could be poised to make a run at Detroit again. They have a good pitching staff, and if a couple of their young hitters get hot...they could move back over .500 real quick. I'll be content if the Tigers split the next two in KC.

BTW....Leyland did misuse Raburn...but some of the blame goes to DD for not giving JL some better options.

Waste of time. Garcia should if had that. He looked like he short armed the ball. That was 2 runs and that takes away the 3 from that inning. The very least you do would be back him up and don't let the ball hit the wall Hunter. Basic fundamentals of the game.

Ya, hammerdown sent him packing.

I just had "ignore" on him. He never stalked me so I never minded him. I just skipped past his posts.

Yeah, Doogie just had the one bad inning, aided by a questionable triple and the lead run scoring on an infield single -- and it seems like the Tigers give up at least two infield singles every game. But the offense needs to produce more than 2 runs. I don't feel like counting, but it seems like this year's team has had a TON of games with 2 runs or less. I know they've been shut out 6 times already. But they'll throw in the 10, 11 or 12 run game to keep their league ranking in run scoring up around 2nd or 3rd.

Yes, I think they could scrape back over .500, but don't see them being a threat to Detroit at the end. They will look really good in stretches, but due to youth and a lack of depth, they will look really bad for stretches, too.

Speaking of depth for the Tigers, looks like Nick C. is putting it together at the plate again after a poor start in Toldeo:

Nick Castellanos tearing it up in the minors
by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com

Tigers outfield prospect Nick Castellanos is hitting .360 in his last 33 games for Triple-A Toledo and leads the league with 45 runs scored. Castellanos was considered one of the club's top prospects at the beginning of the year. He has yet to make his major-league debut.

He's hitting .295/.370/.488 in 258 at-bats.

Just a feeling...but I predict that the Tigers will move back towards the pack in the next couple of weeks. It is very fortunate that Detroit is in the AL Central....they can win a few, then lose a few...and still stay in (or at least near) the lead.

I'd really like to sit on Detroit's bench and get the feel for why this offense seems to turn on and off so suddenly. I don't just mean from one game to the next...but why they put up a big inning early in a game and then run off a string of zeros for the rest of the game. Lack of mental focus or some kind of, "We showed everyone...now let's sit back and take it easy"????

That seems to be detroits MO over the past few years. Go out and score 10 runs then follow up with a 1 run then a 2 run effort. Then when they do have a big inning, it seems like they throw away AB's just swinging at the first pitch. 6 shut outs already is crazy. They still have 100 games left. But oh well, lucky we are in the AL central. And once the playoffs begin, records go out the window. Just like hockey. Match ups and a hot team usually advance. Nice having the 4 starters we have for a playoff series. This team is built for a playoff run, more than built to win 100+ games in a season. I think thats why leyland rests players alot. We just cant slip up in the reg season.

Agreed. Depending on what happens at the trade line (bullpen help) The Tigers will live and die by the Pen.

Unless they make it to the WS and there starters can all go 8 innings. Take the Pen out of the equation or get pen relief before the deadline.

On paper, Detroit has a good playoff team. But we remember last year when the offense went to sleep against the Giants. If Peralta doesn't go bye-bye before the post-season, I think all they need is to find a closer. If you have a decent 9th inning guy, the entire bullpen just looks, and works, better. (And maybe DD slaps his palm on his forehead and says, "Doh! I bet I could get a better middle infielder than Santiago!")

:noidea:

I really will not make any judgments (although it is hard to bite my tongue) until a healthy jackson comes back. Tigers are basically a 500 without jackson.

Notice how much Jhonny is being walked with Avila hitting behind him?
