I call bull shit......if it was miggy, prince, jv or scherzer people would welcome him back with a parade......he didnt kill anyone......he cheated....paid the fine......and now is eligible to play.

No tiger fans were calling for miggys head during his scotch incident. Or domestic abuse.....you can take all the roids you want, but if you cant hit the ball, it doesnt matter......baseball couldve cured this problem years ago when canseco brought it up.....but they enjoyed the HR's just like fans.

Would love to see jhonny hit the game winning WS HR......and then see how many tiger fans love him...

In case this is not where you got your info, here is what I found today.

Manfred is Selig’s right-hand man when it comes to labor issues, crisis management and all other things that requires a trusted fixer. He is like Roger Goodell was to Paul Tagliabue or Adam Silver to David Stern. A man who will be sure to carry on the same management style of a predecessor who left a tremendously large mark. Open question as to how much trust baseball’s other owners have in him given that, unlike Selig, he can’t pat them on the back and say “I know, I was there too once, you know,” but if Selig wants Manfred to be his successor, you figure it will happen.

• Robert Bowman: CEO of MLB Advanced Media

If the owners want a forward-thinker to lead them into the future, Bowman could be their man. As the man who basically created baseball’s entire digital presence — and the copious financial benefits thereform — the MLBAM boss has an argument for the job couched in progress and vision. The downside of Bowman’s case: he really doesn’t deal with the owners in significant day-to-day ways his current role and there is no sense as to whether he’d have their confidence. Remember: when I talk about leading owners into the future, I’m talking about leading them into the late 20th century for the most part.

• Sandy Alderson/Dave Dombrowski/Stan Kasten/Derrick Hall

None of them specifically, but that class of guy. A team president or high-ranking executive who has both experience in working with ownership and the league’s overall executive structure but who also is considered a forward-thinker. Someone whose baseball and business of baseball bona fides are beyond question. Again, whether all owners would support such a person is an open question — some may consider it odd to have someone they feel should be their underling as a commissioner — but when you think about it, the commissioner does answer to owners, so the dynamic should not be terribly odd.
At this point, of course, we’re just speculating. And we probably will be up until Bud Selig’s successor is chosen. We won’t have a public search process. Indeed, I feel like we will simply have the decision announced like the next pope or something.

Gates Brown, the best pinch-hitter in Detroit Tigers history and a member of the 1968 World Series champions, died today, the team said. He was 74.
Brown, a native Crestline, Ohio, broke into the majors in 1963 and played his entire 13-year career with the Tigers. He was the hitting coach when the Tigers won the World Series in 1984.
He played in 13 major league seasons, all with the Tigers, and was a lifetime .257 hitter.

Thats true.....but id have to go with 2......3 is good too.......but number 1 i cant agree.....its a sport.....now if he cheated ME out of money or a wife or sumthin, then i wouldnt be so quick to forgive.....but he took a banned substance.....cheated a sport.....did his time......i can fully forgive him.....like i said....IF we knew every player was dirty or clean, that might make it different.....but for all we know, half the tigers team COULD be dirty. Over half of MLB could be dirty.

If it were any of the other players you mentioned, it would be trickier because of their contracts but I would still prefer any of that group to be left off the postseason roster. Call me crazy, but doing something the right way is still a priority, isn't it.

I do believe in time served but I don't believe that service should wipe out what you have done. People can lose their job for getting a DUI. If they pay their fine should that job be returned because they paid their debt to society?

It is my position that if a team enters the playoffs with a player that has been proven (or admitted) guilty of taking PED's, during that year, it would seem tainted to me. That is MY position.
