Most of the teams left for them are sub par teams.

The expertise of the Tigs board, is like the smartest kid with down syndrome. :laugh3:

No offense...Tig fans! :yahoo:

I haven't seen one post from this clown that even remotely showed intelligence... He is like the Indians version of the old Twins CBS poster Quest.

Agreed.. which is a good thing to get sharp for the playoffs for a guy like verlander... if he can get locked in like sanchez did late last year... and the tigers can go in with a verlander even close to what he should be... there is no team that can match the rotation.. The positive out of all this... Verlander has not had even close to the innings he had last year.. and I feel like he was gassed by the time the ws came around... Leyland over used verlander for sure the last 3 years... and I think that has a lot to do with what is going on with him... but i don't think its something he cant fix.. and like i said... he has not been going 7-8 innings or throwing 120-130 pitches all the time like last season.. i will take 6 innings and 100 pitches with less than 3 runs from him moving forward and let him lock it in for when it counts.. As a live long tigers fan.. I am tired with the reg season stats.. i want a ws.. its been to long... Let some other team have the mvp, cy, and the other reg season accolades... I want playoff accolades.

Quote from Buck Showalter concerning A-Rod be banned for life.

"If Bud lets them (Yankees) get away with that, they're under the luxury tax," Showalter told USA TODAY Sports. "If they can reset, they can spend again and I guarantee you in two years Matt Wieters is in New York."
"They're the ones who signed him to that contract," Showalter said of the Yankees.

Who grabs other guys pubes? I mean, seriously, that's weird. Leyland probably doesn't even remember when that was okay to do.

Good spin smitty....you running for office. Or just your usual protecting the weak links?

Castellanos is going to be a good bat.. I think he takes over in left next year.. and the tigers have one more year of torii at least... They are going to have to hope one of the young OFers steps up or they will be trying to buy a bat on the open market in 2015. The good thing is.. the tigers farm strong point from position players is OF.. and steven moya may end up being the next giancarlo stanton.. he is 6'7'' and is finally starting to figure it out at the plate... I tigers infield has a few prospects now that can take over ss or 2nd... so i like the depth there in the system.. Perez is going to be a legit mlb player.. defense is above ave at 2nd.. and his can hit .270+ with .300 potential... Tigers also have a kid named Devon Travis that is a polonco clone at 2nd that is hitting .358 in low minors. I am most worried with the tigers pitching depth.. but it looks like it is bouncing back.. Jake Thompson looks good so far and the guys that were drafted high this year are lights out so far... But there is no top end starting pitching prospect within a few years away.. and that scares me.. tigers depth if there is an injury is Alverez and Jurrgens at this point..

Free Agency isn't what it was in the high points of the yankees spending sprees. The only way at this point to get a legit talent that is in their prime is to trade for them and take the salary on that way... Free agency is almost all 30 yr+ guys now... to many teams lock up players to ext or massage the system with arb and don't call up a kid like the royals did with wil myers... Building a team with a bunch of 30 yr+ guys doesnt work well because the window is small... that is why i hate long term contracts for guys like max and verlander.. but i am ok with verlanders.. because he is a face to the franchise and the fans would have went nuts he they let him walk... max.. you can unload for talent... and sanchez.. well.. lets just say i am holding my breath on that one and hoping it works. Miggy is the only guy i would be jumping up and down to sign in his 30's.. because even if he declines to a .275 hitter with 30 hr power.. he is an above ave dh...and i dont see miggy ever having a season under .300 unless he is seriously hurt.

If i am the tigers.. i don't sign ajax to an ext either.. he is not progressing as a hitter.. and you still have enough time to either develope a replacement CF on the cheap or trade for a younger guy.. The only guy I sign to long term deal on the tigers that doesnt have one now is Miggy.. all the rest of the guys are replaceable and have enough time to figure out a plan on... Save money to throw at other opportunities... guys like ajax are a dime a dozen.. I just hope DD doesn't fall in love with to many of these guys like jackson or max... teams like the cards show everyone that if you look at it as a business and let players go when they are no longer worth the asking price.. and invest the money where it should be.. you can maintain success.. even after a once in a generation talent like pujols walks... I trust DD though.. the guy just keeps proving he is a top GM in pro sports.. not just baseball.

Lol i dont need to know how free agency works im just curious why buck would use his own player as an example saying wieters will leave baltimore for ny, just seems like a bad idea if i was wieters and an oriole i would be offended that my coach was talking about me leaving the team as soon as i can. So maybe im missing something

Its a discussion board bro... thats nice.. you understand free agency.. most here dont... and as for using wieters as an example... who cares... he can't use another teams players as an example.. you can't by rule talk about other teams players in terms of where they will play... should he have done it? no... do you really think it is a big deal... no.. I am sure wieters could care less.. and if anything should take it as a compliment.

He didnt need to use wieters as an example, he didnt need to say any players name. Im glad ou understand its a discussion board, proud of you. How do you know that, i mean you seem to know everything but how did you know that wouldnt bother wieters? Maybe it doesnt, i dont know. I was just curious why buck did it, how it would be advantageous to him to say it, nothing too hardcore but im not sure the right answer would come from you though.

You missed the entire point of my original question so you were discussing with me something that was completely off topic. I also never said i knew how free agency works. Just said thats not what i was asking. Just some miscommunication i think, no biggie.
