Tigers lose a couple of games after the break and doom is pending. The season is 162 games. They will be ok and win over 90 games.

it isn't so much the wins and losses. rather all the 1 run loses which is the type of baseball played in the post season. Winning a division with teams that are not gonna be much over 500 isn't exactly great. lets remember we also do not get the advantage of the 2 at home followed by three on the road like last years playoff format. unless the Tigers finish the top 2 seeds it will be the first 2 on the road.

Good teams win a lot of one run games. The Tigers don't.

I know I will hear about my negativity, but I just don't see this team as a good team. Fortune has blessed them by placing them in a very weak division....without that, they'd just be another "around .500 ball club".

BTW....anyone else notice that the Tigers and Yankees have the same win totals. Compare the two teams daily lineups.....no way (IMO) that they should each have 52 wins. One team over-performing, one under-performing.

They're aren't a good team. They're a great team,.....if we were talking major league slow pitch softball.

Fixed.

Jeremy Bonderman future seventh inning guy.

Pitching out of the pen for
toledo, posting a 1,2,3 inning. this season for the M's did hold righties to 200
BA, while lefties hit over 300 against him. We shall see.

I have often thought that, as a 2-pitch pitcher, Bonderman had more value in the bullpen than as a starter.

Tigers shut out for the 7th time on Friday, after being shut out only twice in the regular season all last year. Great pitching and no hitting in Game 1, good hitting and crummy pitching in Game 2. Result: two more 1-run losses. That seems to be the big reason the Tigers cannot pull away yet... can't get their hitting and pitching going in the same game often enough. I still think over a 162-game season, that stuff works itself out and the cream rises to the top. We shall see.

The good news: Joaquin Benoit is now 9-for-9 with a 0.00 ERA in save situations. He may give DD thoughts of going after middle relief/setup help at the deadline rather than mortgaging the farm for a closer.

I have said for awhile the pen fix will come from within.....The mix they are playing with now is Bentoit closing , Smyly 8th and Rondon 7th......what the rest of the mix will be we will see.....there is no need to mortage the future on some has been other teams are dumping that are out of the race.....biggest issue right now is hoping Infante gets back healthy....I have seen enough of Santiago.....

I agree....let Benoit close for now. But the Tigers still need bullpen depth. Rondon could still go south, Potkonen, Coke, etc and not good enough. Detroit needs a proven relief pitcher (or two) to get to Smyly and Benoit. Latest suggestion from me.....Wesley Walker a lefty from Houston. Nothing special, but he isn't going to cost much and he'd give them another lefthander in the pen.

PS...stay away from Putz and Heath Bell in AZ. The only team that wants them is the Fuzzy Bunnies. Gibson has pushed those two former closers into 7th inning, or mop up, currently.

I think you mean Wesley Wright. No, nothing special... 4.08 ERA / 1.39 WHIP. Better than Phil Coke, but he's worth only Tier B Tiger prospects, IMO.

oops....Wesley Walker is my cousin's name. lol. Don't think, at 66, he is worth any kind of prospect.
