Depending on whether you look at yards or points, it could be 2 or 3 and interestingly, the teams that are in the top 10 on one list are top 18 or worse on the other list and vice versa.

Here is the defenses Denver has played:

Yards rank:

32 DAL
29 PHI
27 JAX
26 NE
24 KC x2
23 SD x2
22 OAK x2
20 IND
18 WAS
14 TEN
12 BAL
8 NYG
7 HOU

Points rank:

30 WAS
29 OAK x2
28 JAX
26 DAL
24 HOU
18 NYG
17 PHI
16 TEN
12 BAL
11 SD x2
10 NE
9 IND
7 KC x2

Personally I'm not all that interested in yards allowed, I like to see how a defense does in points allowed. So the second list means a lot more to me than the first one does.

and if you look at those teams in the 14 or 15 other games (when they weren't getting lit up by the broncos) i bet it moves 5 or 6 of them to the top 10 in scoring D.

A good example of this would be the CB for KC that was considered pretty good (Cooper?) and then Peyton played him and just dropped TDs on his head. Then he got torched pretty much every game after that

haha i remember pregame whoever was announcing was talking about how KC loved the great young corner cooper....

then he got destroyed and the rest of the year had a target on his back.

my point is though, look at the ravens scoring D in 15 games. The 48 (or whatever) points the broncos scored ruined their ranking pretty badly. especially when you consider how many points they allowed in the pats game. the other 14 they were pretty stout

I'm pretty sure Peyton had the effect on the Rams, too. He really went after Janoris Jenkins in the preseason against the Rams and he got roasted all year despite the Rams having arguably the best pass rush in the NFL

Your stats are incorrect.

NFL Stats - CBSSports.com

KC was #5 scoring D, not #7. They played them twice.

Played NE twice, once reg season, once playoffs.

That is 5 games against top 10 Defenses.

Average scoring D the #1 ) faced was 14th.

Average scoring O seattle faced was 19th.

It is not scoring D, smart guy, it is points per game, just like the other guy did for the Seattle thread.

Those 5 "top 10" defenses are jokes and everyone knows it. They KC played an even easier schedule than Denver (if that is even possible).

It would only be 5 in the scoring D category. No change in the yards list at all.

So a non-bronco fan posts something negative about Seattle and Seattle fans respond by trying to tear down the bronco team...come on son rise above it.

I was referring to the 2nd list, scoring D. Scoring Defnese is PPG allowed. Look at the link. The category is "TEAM SCORING DEFENSE STATS"

Points rank:

30 WAS
29 OAK x2
28 JAX
26 DAL
24 HOU
18 NYG
17 PHI
16 TEN
12 BAL
11 SD x2
10 NE
9 IND
7 KC x2

Points ranking/Scoring Defense.

I know because I looked this list up the other night. KC is #5, not #7 in scoring D. All the rest are correct rankings for scoring D for those teams.

You guys are constantly throwing out stats without providing a link to where you got them.

You are also constantly throwing out meaningless stats, like total yards.

Only means they moved the ball at a point in the game.

Like when Denver is up by 3 scores and they go into a prevent and teams will air it out in desperation and throw for 250 yards in the 4th quarter.

Meaningless.

I actually agree with this 100%. You can manipulate any stat you want to make either team look like world beaters or look horrible. Bottom line is these are two good teams and they deserve to be where they are. Trolls will be trolls

How many top 10 offenses have the Seahawks played? How come Seahawks fans REFUSE to discuss this?

Well said. Rather than looking at stats, why not look at the matchup? That's what is relevant to the game in front of us. Stats are a body of work, but they are not necessarily a reliable predictor of what's ahead. I do appreciate those of you in the Seahawks camp who can actually discuss the game in an intelligent manner. I'm sure you've experienced your fair share of trolls boosting the Broncos, too. I hope you don't let yourself define Broncos fans by them. I think you'd find a lot of sharp football fans who are Broncos fans.

There's not really much to discuss. Its dumb that either of these threads were brought up. Who cares who played who, you beat who you play and that's that. Denver played worse defenses because their offense was so great it skewed the stats making their opponents defensive stats worse. On the flip side Seattle played worse offenses because their defense was so great it skewed the stats making their opponents defensive stats worse.

I got no problem with fans being confident in their team. I actually know a lot of Bronco fans and they are good people. This was actually a hell of a rivalry in the 80's. Kind of a shame they have only played twice since the Hawks moved to the NFC.

I actually agree. I ask the question in the context of responding to the initial post. If someone wants to talk stats, why do they only want to talk stats one-way? As I said in my follow-on post, I'm all about the matchup.
