I actually liked what Kubiak had to say. Come December and January the Broncos have to have some kind of rushing rushing offense. Now yes we didn't do terrible out of the shot gun in the run game the last couple of years but it wasn't anything anybody feared either. To me our best bet to actually win a Super Bowl this year is that of having both Manning's and Kubiak's style of offense available to use at a high level come playoff time. Even if that means maybe a loss or two in the regular season while trying to get it worked out. It is not how you play in the regular season that matters come playoff time. If that was the case then Broncos should have won the Super Bowl 2 of the last 3 years. It is about how you are playing leading up to and into the playoffs. So yes there will be some frustrating times as this will be a painful growing process but to me in the end it will be worth it. If it doesn't work then we are right back where we have been the last few years in not bringing home the Lombardi. If it does work though we could finally see our team get over the hump.

You make some good points and perhaps you are right about the benefits of having both offenses available, but I am a bit skeptical. First, as you mention, we have had success running the ball out of the shotgun the past three years when we made the commitment to doing so. Second, Manning is taking too much of a beating on plays where he takes snaps under center. I just don't think that he fits Kubiak's WCO. Third, I think it might be asking too much of our young offensive linemen to toggle between the two offenses. Finally, I think that we have a play making defense that might have won a SB or three had we had it the past three years.

I don't completely disagree with you. I am more in the stick with the shotgun offense say 75% of the time right now and work as the season progresses to get that closer to 50/50. Protect Manning of course because we are not going very far without him playing at a high level. But I just can't see abandoning the Kubiak system all together. I still think it can be a great weapon as the season goes on that the team can use. And yes I agree if we have this defense say in 2012 and 2013 I think we stand a very good chance of winning the Super Bowl. Last year I honestly don't think we would as the team was in turmoil by the time the season was almost done and Manning being hurt didn't help one bit.

Honestly it just seems so hard to find one of those type of guys that meet both criteria. If only the Broncos had listened to you on Lockett we wouldn't be in this mess. I agree not a fan of having Sanders as our primary guy but at the same time you want as many opportunities to get the ball in the hands of your playmakers and right now offensively there is no better playmaker on our team. When you throw in how dismal the offense has been so far getting some kind of special teams spark is maybe what we need. I can't see anybody else on our roster other than Sanders giving that to us.
It wouldn`t bother me one bit if Denver never returned one punt all yr. As I stated weeks ago how important it was to have a guy like Sanders back there. I would rather see a fair catch or ball bounce into endzone than have a return where odds of fumbling are far greater. Unless you have a Deon Sanders, Hester,Lockett, etc back there your much better off having a experienced possession intelligent guy fielding punts. Sure, its an exciting play watching a guy return a punt for a td but the odds of that happening has less chance than a guy trying to make something happen and coughs up the football. Keeping possession is far more important than the risk reward factor in returning punts IMO. Fair catch, save your body, have the smarts as to when to let the ball hit the ground or not and give the ball to "YOUR" offense, not theirs.

He is decent but he also I think fumbled twice in the preseason trying to return punts. As Randymon pointed out and I agree with him I would much rather have a guy I know will catch it every time than a guy that is explosive but can't hold onto the ball. Trindon Holiday is a perfect example. Every punt return I closed my eyes until he caught the football and as soon as he took that first step and still had the ball I would get excited knowing something big was about to happen. I had more fear though of him dropping it than I did in confidence that he would do something big.

Right now I have really liked what I have seen from Sanders making very sound decisions and if anything erring on the side of caution as he had one punt where nobody was within 10 yards of him when he called the fair catch. I would much rather see that than him thinking he had a clear lane and a guy lights him up.

Nice analysis on Sanders as a PR - CD.

Sanders is becoming my favorite Bronco on offense.

I don't know why, but I'm feeling a breakout game from CJ this week. I'd love nothing more than to see us run the ball 35-40 times for 180-200 yards.

CJ Anderson tired of hearing it from nerdy fantasy football owners who only care about the game for fantasy purposes tells people to drop him in fantasy football.

I get a kick out of people who only enjoy the game for fantasy purposes.

Hope you're right, Doc. I think you might be. I think that CJ is healthy and MN rushed for 199 yards against Detroit last week.

I wonder how much money FanDuel and DraftKings make. The folks who started those businesses are geniuses.

I don't really care what style of offense is used or whether or not most plays are ran out of the shotgun or not. The three things I do know is you must be able to run the ball and protect your QB and limit turnovers once the playoffs start. Can't win a Super Bowl playing the way the Broncos offense has been playing the first 2 weeks. The good thing is it's only week 3. Hopefully this extra time will get the running game going and I don't want to see another interception out of Manning Sunday night. Broncos 24-13.

I remember the Patriots offense looking rather pedestrian and Tom Brady looking really old about this time last year..... how did that work out again?

Hopefully Denver's offensive issues are as easily (or more easily) remedied as the season progresses.

Hey, if I keep making money like I'm doing, that aspect of enjoyment will soon surpass the regular enjoyment of the game...

Fan Duel is expecting payouts to exceed 1 billion for football season alone. They also do CBF, NBA, Hockey, and NCAABB. Crazy.

So do you use DraftKing or Fanduel? I've thought about giving it a try but just haven't checked it out.
