My biggest question is does this turn into whether Brady actually had anything to do with deflating footballs or does it turn into did Goodell abuse his power and handed down a punishment too harsh for the penalty at hand? Those are two different issues that could play a huge role in deciding this. I think the NFL is more worried about a judge ruling that Goodell overstepped his power than they are about them finding Brady not guilty. If Goodell is found to not have such power then all of a sudden every suspension that happens can come into question. Throw in other Unions and companies will be watching this close because this could have lasting impact on them as well if situations like this come up.

In court, it's been about Goodell overstepped his power. I still want my question answered about the Colts balls. Every football fan should.

Yes and no. It would likely just cause the NFL Commish to keep the fines reasonable.

If this had been a $25,000.00 equipment violation doubled to $50,000.00 because of franchise history, Brady would have been pinned as a cheater and none of his appeal avenues would have produced relief. Instead, Goodell went way overboard and that is certainly a factor in all of this.

The question about the Colts balls has already been answered. The NFL has abandoned the deflation issue and scientists have "weighed in" on deflation.
I have several interests in this:
1) I am a science major and screamed "Ideal Gas Laws" from the beginning,
2) I despise the corrupt and strong arm tactics the NFL used,
3) I was charged with a crime as a kid. While innocent, My attorney won my case on illegal search and seizure,
4) I do not believe Brady asked anybody to break the rules.
5) I know the NFL is guilty as hell

Side note; Ravens lose one week of OTA's in June. And.....According to ESPN's Jim Trotter, the Ravens were fined $343,057 and Harbaugh was fined $137,223.

The penalty should have been; a million dollar fine to the Raisin's franchise, loss of their first round pick in 2017 and a 4 game suspension for Joe Flacco.

That is actually a pretty harsh punishment once again. Losing an entire week of practice is kind of a big deal with how limited they are in the number of practices before the season starts. Shows the NFL didn't buy the story they tried to tell about how they didn't know the rules.

Maybe those guys (have) got to study the rule book and figure it out," Brady said. "We obviously knew what we were doing."

Haha well this is a few times now that they have played the "we didn't know" card. Eventually you cry wolf long enough and it comes back to bite you in the butt. Showed up here where they got one of the harsher punishments we have seen for violating the practice rules established. Essentially they lost a practice per minute they were on the field with pads.

This is the 2nd CBA violation for Hairball and company. Punishment should've been greater.

Or Brady's should have only penalized him, not the team and owner.

Goodell is such a weasel. Please find someone who can dish out punishment more evenly:hope:

2010. They punishment was forfieture of their final week of OTAs. Had to do with violating the CBA by keeping rookies on the field too long and late meetings.
I'm starting to think Harbaugh likes to abuse young men:noidea:

Should have been more, this was the SECOND time they were busted for this. If we have to pay for Spygate again, then so should they...#integrity

Now we're gonna get the politicos involved. AFL-CIO has been supporting Hillary and the Dems for years. Now they've come out in support of Brady "after" Donald Trump has already said he thinks Brady got screwed. If Hillary wants to keep the unions happy, she's going to have to step up make an issue out of it or risk the wrath of the unions. If she does step up, I'm sure Trump will grind her nose in it for not stepping up prior to this event.

Once it becomes part of the presidential political fracas the court will be forced to rehear it and 13 judges stand to get fired if Trump is elected and they don't ""Get it Right"".

Dude, a president can't fire a judge.
