Here's something that has been on my mind for a few weeks. Let's say AP gave the Lions 2000 yds on the ground last season, would they have won more games?

If he had 2000 though, that would of meant we were running the ball well, but does that mean our defense and SP would of still been weak....alot of our passing yards came in the 4th QTR when the lions were down 3 TD's and teams were in prevent. Thats how joique bell put up nice receiving stats.

Would have won Colts game for sure. With Stafford I will keep TRON! With Ponder I would rather have AP.
I feel the run will open up a bit more this year. Young Oline or not. With Bush the defense is either going to creep up and open the deep route. Stay back it opens up run game.

The answer to your question is yes you would have probably won 9-10 games. A solid run game means time of possession, less turnovers and a fresher defense. Megatron is a BEAST but a great running back trumps a great receiver every day of the week

It's not even close. Adrian Peterson makes every team in the NFL significantly better. Add him to any other playoff team and the become heavy favorites to win the superbowl.

For sure and this is the reason I think people are SEVERELY undervaluing Altanta this year. You are adding one of the 3 or 4 best RB's in the game to an offense that may already be the most talented team in the league at the skill positions and yet Atlanta is an afterthought when people talk about SB teams from the NFC. Won 13 games last year and were 10 yards from the SB, adds Steven Jackson and now they are the 3rd or 4th best team in the NFC??? LOL

Thing is, no RB can get that many yards with a bad line. No way AP got 2K running behind ravioli and co.

Well I'm being hypothetical. I doubt CJ would get 1900+ yds with Ponder his QB. A guy who has limitations throwing down field.

I just wonder if AP got all those yards that would causes defenses to play closer to the box, meaning safeties won't be playing deep and this would allow Stafford more opportunities for big plays down field. Then again if CJ isn't around Stafford wouldn't really have a big threat down field. Only down field threat would be Titus. With CJ out of the picture Titus probably wouldn't have gone retarded because he would be the No.1 guy by default.

I think he's better than most of the other ones but with even the number two running back in the league the vikings were more likely to have the first overall pick than make the playoffs. He's so far beyond everyone else it's not funny.

Steven Jackson is one of the best 3 or 4 Running Backs in the NFL? Did I accidentally turn the time machine one while I was doing laundry? Does Kurt Warner still play for the New York Football Giants in whatever year this is? Does Adrian Peterson still consider himself a slave? Should I keep asking questions?

Take it easy Smitty. People get excited when they have a new toy. They tend to make it sound better than it really is.

He will be this year. Guy averaged 1200 yards a year the last 3 years playing behind a bad OL with no weapons on the outside to protect him. There arent 3 or 4 guys in the league Id take ahead of him for sure if thats what you are asking. AP for sure. After that its a clusted of Lynch, Gore, Jackson, Rice, Foster and Charles

SJ is an interesting player this year. ATL has far too many weapons to turn him into a top 5 back statistically. He probably won't run for nearly as many yards as he did in horns, because ATL won't be so reliant on him like the Rams were. But he will score more red zone TD's because of Gonzales, White and Jones, three superior red zone threats opening up the field. In terms of influencing the success of his team, he's a top 5 impact player for sure.

Are you serious? Dudes ALWAYS hurt. I'm all for wishful thinking buddy. But you're going to be very disappointed if you're expecting him to out produce any of those guys you mentioned. Or Matt Forte, Doug Martin,CJ Spiller, Trent Richardson, Chris Johnson or possibly even Reggie Bush. There was a time when Jackson was a top 3,4,5 back. But it wasn't this decade.

It's hard to take a guy seriously when he's sitting there with only 25 in vcash.

Smitty, SJax has played in 15, 16, 15 and 16 games the past 4 seasons and run for more than 300 attempts in each of his past 5 seasons.

He suffered injuries in 07 and 08 that limited him to 12 games. In the two years before that he played in 15 and 16 games respectively.

Are you maybe thinking of Michael Turner?
