One of my favorite players, but that is a lot of money for a guy with a fair amount of wear and tear on his tires.

Owners must be expecting the cap to jump up to about $250 mil after next years downturn. But like @FaCe-LeE-uS said, the cap seems to be a figment of the imagination at this point.

New TV deal will be signed soon.

Right now each team gets $160M just from TV revenue. I expect that number to be closer to $250M per team in 2022. If not more.

Networks cant afford to lose the NFL. It is literally the only guaranteed bankable thing on TV any longer. And everyone in business knows that sometimes you think about margins....other times you think about overall revenue. And networks overall revenue would take a SIGNIFICANT hit if they dont go crazy by bidding on the NFL. And big revenue drops get CEO's fired.....even if your overall profits stay close to the same.

The market is what it is. the Cards have one of the best WR's locked up for the next 5 years. I'll take it.

I wouldn't make receiver a priority if I felt strong about my QB - unless it's a once in a generation type talent like Rice or maybe Moss - but it ain't my money either. At least Cards fans know he'll be there for a good while.

I mean even for two years that is RIDICULOUS money. I get contracts will only get larger. But $22M/year for Julio to $27M/year for Hopkins is a steep jump.

That being said, he is one of the best.

Yeah, I am not super convinced Hopkins ages super well so I am not sure buying ultra expensive years makes sense unless this new TV deal is truly historic.

QB is the only position worth big money contracts.
