Deadline Day is Gonna Be Slow

I think there will be plenty of trades come deadline day. A lot of teams in the West haven't done anything yet & are still in the playoff race. The Capitals will do something. Probably not as much as they did last year though. It will be interesting to see if Edmonton gets anything close to what they want for Penner, Hemsky & Smid.

The Caps always seem poised to do something...but don't. I honestly think that if they had a more aggressive GM they'd at least gotten a round or two farther the past few seasons.

I think there will be a few surprises between now & the deadline. With so many teams in the playoff hunt deals are going to be made especially for defenseman.

Another aspect is that the number of sellers is much lower this year than in the past because a lot of teams are on the bubble (example, the Western Conference), or are hopeful like the Devs, so the price is jacked up because of the market. Should be interesting...I guess we'll just have to see.

I think that's the reason he hasn't done anything yet. He's not going to overpay. He let Kovalchuk go to NJ for that ridiculous contract. If Lombardi makes a deal I don't think it will be for a rental.
