If it's for the future ok... if it's for this year... leave it alone. No rentals/ufas. Not this year.

TJ Oshie is a name I heard.. gogo for oshie?

I heard that too...but there's NO WAY Oshie is traded. He's part of the core of the Blues.

The Sabres will make a huge deal by the trade deadline. (well at least a huge deal by Sabres standards considering it's been 8 years since they actually did anything by the trade deadline)

SabresBookIt.gif

This is the team that should acquire Brad Richards if he becomes available. I don't know if he would waive his no trade clause. However he would be great with Vanek & Stafford. The Sabres also have the assets to make the trade with ease. Regier hoards his prospects. It's like he's terrified to give any of them up.

what woudl go back?

here is a question Dash. - you are on the cusp of the playoffs. you hvae a team that is humming and plenty of players that could return some decent picks/prospects.

what do you do? it will be the same team next year with the same cap but OLDER.

do you take a shot at the playoffs? or do you trade to get assets and hope to make it still?

Honestly, I basically stand pat (maybe try to acquire a depth defenseman and maybe a skilled forward that is not welcome in his current environment) but that's it. The chemistry is percolating, why mess with it?

He is a VERY big believer that if you build from within and keep the same players together year after year, that good things will happen.

Problem is that it hasn't been working and we have some players that we really need to send packing for some new blood via a trade.

I'm not asking for a huge blockbuster player or anything, but I also don't want the Sabres to get another Neids, Rivet, or Torres, etc.

That's what I thought as well... but honestly, I don't know much about the BLues, and thought this rumor stemmed from them being foward heavy? Is that the case? If so, perhaps they need help on the backend... a young talented defenseman for a young talented forward may benefit both teams... if my assumption above is correct...

That is a deal I would be in favor of. Like you said, something for the future, not just for this year. But I would also be happy if they made no moves.

The Sabres have a new owner who reportedly wants to win. There's no guarantee that Richards would waive his no trade clause. However it's definately something Darcy should look into. Peverley would have been a nice addition for Buffalo. To bad he's now a Bruin. The Sabres need a good playmaking center for Vanek.
Connolly should have been sent packing 2 years ago.

Connolly should have been sent packing 2 years ago.

With all his injury problems, the Sabres were hoping that if he could stay healtly long enough, that he could become an offensive weapon on the team.

Well, he's been healthy now, and he hasn't done anything. He's practically invisible on the PP, and makes poor decisions on the ice.

Pommers is another player that I wouldn't care to see packing along with a few others.

Sabres need to reshuffle the deck and get some new cards.

Giving Connolly 2 years 8 million was obviously a mistake. They should have kept Briere.

The Blues have more young defensemen and defensive prospects than they know what to do with. They are short on goal scoring, and TJ Oshie was recently voted the most popular athlete in St. Louis. I really don't see them making that trade. Maybe Andy McDonald for Goligoski or something.

The Blues have two big time goal scoring prospects in Jaden Schwartz & Vladimir Tarasenko.

Right, the Blues actually have all kinds of prospects in every position. Both of those guys are a few years off though. I think with Oshie he's young, tenacious, and already looks like the heart and soul of the team. I can see St. Louis making a trade for a defenseman like Goligoski, I just don't think it will be Oshie.

I forget where I saw his name pop up...I normally just stick with Spector's and TFP...but I don't think it was from them. I just remember being confused by it. Just didn't make any sense. He's talented, young, cheap, and an RFA. Unless they think for some reason they won't be able to keep him (and even if they couldn't sign him, the compensation from an offer sheet would be pretty good), there's no way he's on the block.

The Panthers still need to trade the majority of the people on the team. So Tallon, alone, will make it entertaining if he has to.

Sounds like Weiss is staying though. I've coveted him for a few seasons now. Mostly because he insists on scoring against the Pens.

Looks like Arnotts future depends on whether or not he feels the devils have a legitimate shot at the playoffs by the deadline. But this is the list of teams rumored to be interested should he want out.

(Pittsburgh, Montreal and Washington are among the teams rumored to have interest. Pittsburgh and Montreal have had multiple scouts at more than one Devils’ game in the last few weeks.)

Okay, do ya believe me NOW? I guess the rental options are mostly still out there, but it seems like GMs aren't gonna wait until the last moment this year.

Ya never know though Pix. Who would have thought that guys like Stewart, Johnson, Fisher, Neal and Goligoski would be on the move at all this year. It seems like GMs league-wide are finally figuring out how to make big moves in the shadow of the salary cap.

Chances are that it will be slow but if there's any year that might surprise us, I think it's this year.

True. The West is where I expect the action to happen. The teams in the cluster have to make a move...and when one makes a move, they all have to try to do the same, or risk being left in the dust.
