yup. and remember, of those "positive tests" there was also a very high number of false positives, and no one knows who those were.
because it wasnt a test for anything specific, just to see what the hitters were up to collectively.
yup. and so far, no one like ortiz has come to this point (or reached that point). aside from jeter, he wad the face of MLB for the last what, 10 years at least?Being linked to that failed test means PED speculation. Ignore that fact all you want, but so far, the voters haven't.
and his numbers do not remotely stack up to ortiz's as far as comparisons go.Bosox fans I guess have to hope Andy petitte gets HoF. He's the most likeable guy I can think of that is linked to roids. Need someone to break into the hall so others can point and say "but that roider got in and he is t as good".

commercial friendly. never an off field problem guy. charitable. likable.
he may be the first "good guy" on the "steroid list (cough cough) to encounter this.

pettitte was a very average to barely above average pitcher during his career. even with his post season wins, his peripherals are pedestrian.
3.85 reg season/1.351 WHIP
3.81 post season/ 1.305 WHIP
oh, hes affable.Average or not, you need SOME roider in the hall to break that stigma. Who else is affable enough to get the vote? Not Ortiz.
Maybe so, I didn't follow him that much. Every time I saw him he was being a prick or getting pissed at people for asking why he sucks at that point.oh, hes affable.
like i said, the guy was an advertisers dream. jovial, friendly, big smile...never an off the field problem guy...regardless of the unsanctioned test he may or may not have failed...he was very good to the game, and the game was good to him.
best DH of all time, hands down. the numbers prove it.
he will be the first DH elected and the first "steroid guy" (cough cough) to get in.

Also, Edgar Martinez.
True. But we here love him for helping reverse the curse.Hoping for a farewell tour, but no one outside of Boston will give a shit.
ortiz has more hits RBI and HR than both as a DH...I don't even know if he was the best DH of all time... Thome had over 800 DH games, and he was significantly better...
Edgar Martinez was better than Ortiz as well...
I don't have a positive view of Ortiz. I see him as a loud mouth show off who half asses it for stretches at a time.
ortiz has more hits RBI and HR than both as a DH...
by miles.
As a Red Sox fan I'll miss him, very polarizing figure though.
ortiz was very competent in the field too. did you know that?Well, yeah, you would kind of expect that from a guy that had 140% more PAs as DH than Thome.
Thome could play competent defense, so he spent most of his career in the field, as opposed to Ortiz, who has been a DH for almost 90% of his PAs.
