He did not... However, doesn't mean he didn't use.

Wish him the best of luck and it will be sad to see him go but it's his time.
i know.

I like David Ortiz, but given his full-time DH status and the steroid speculation surrounding him, I don't think his inclusion to the hall is a given, much less 1st ballot.

The voters' stances on these issues would have to shift pretty drastically over the next six years for Ortiz to make it in on the first ballot.

Even if he wasn't linked to the steroid talks, and was proven to be 100% clean, I don't think he would make the HOF... If your going to be ONLY a hitter, don't you have to be a top 20 hitter of all time to be in question... He is not a top 20 hitter of all time... Not even a top 5 of the 2000 era...

depends on the steroid he was using (or if it was HGH, which is what i think it was). pettitte got nabbed for it in NY when they were teammates.

HGH wont give size, just quick regeneration.

clemens won 20 games over his last 2 years here. goes to toronto, wins 41 over 2 years. goes from 4.18 and 3.63 ERA to 2.05 and 2.65.

he had his first and only k/9 of 10.0 or higher, in toronto.

Ortiz, who will turn 40 on Wednesday, did activate an option for the 2017 season by surpassing 600 plate appearances in 2015, but he will apparently be leaving $16 million on the table by retiring at the end of the 2016 season.

oh, and he is first ballot. easily.

Not so fast, my man. I think he gets in, but it won't be so quick....

As of right now, he'd be the 1st full-time DH to make the hall and the first player linked to steroid usage to make the hall.

But, sure, he's "easily" first ballot material. . .

He IS the greatest DH in the history of the game, but I hear you. I think he has an uphill battle for the HOF.

The same Bosox fans who reviled Jetes for the announcement of his retirement will applaud Papi for his.

I didn't have any problem with Jeter "announcing" his retirement. I had a problem with him getting gifts from all the opposing teams (including the Sox) and having a little ceremony at each final away game. Ripken got respect but didn't do that shit.

Easily. He's also got a shitton of "intangibles" like his postseason numbers, breaking the curse, et cetera. That will all help, but from a pragmatic standpoint, the debate should be about if he's in or not, not if he's first ballot.

Look up gloryhound in the dictionary. There are two pictures. One of a NY fireman and another of Derek Jeter. An alternate definition has a pic of Mariano.

They both make me sick.

More shocking than before/afters of Giambi and Barry are those of Pujols and Roidier Molina.

I disliked him until he was an Indian. Now I love the guy. When he'd hit a homerun, his face would light up like what you would expect from a kid, and -- possibly the best part -- with his tiny legs, he'd look like Mr. Incredible rounding the bases.

Clemens never failed an MLBPA sanctioned test, so the BBWAA ignores any and all speculation regarding PED usage. I'm sure they'll do Ortiz the same solid.

David Ortiz is Carlos Delgado, but Delgado at least play defense... If Delgado is not in the HOF, then in no way should David Ortiz...

Conversely, one failed a PED test and one didn't. Who knows is right.
yup. and remember, of those "positive tests" there was also a very high number of false positives, and no one knows who those were.

because it wasnt a test for anything specific, just to see what the hitters were up to collectively.
