Sources: Wake Forest parts ways with Manning
congrats @Hitman Hart
oh happy days are here again in the twin city
Weird ass timing but congrats @Hitman Hart
timing isn't all that weird when you consider the impact of COVID-19 and Manning's buyout
Wake is the only P6 job opening on the market right now. Mostly, because no one else had the balls to fire mediocrity during a public health crisis.
Wow....been spending quarantine contemplating firing him and did.
I mean, it's sorta weird with recruiting and transfers basically being done. Plus, not sure how many staffers would be willing to relocate at the moment. You guys must have someone already lined up
I'm glad you finally got your wish although the timing is very strange and weird.
1.) each recruiting cycle is typically finished by the fall. McDonald's AAs and lower rated prospects are the exceptions to that rule. pretty sure a new coach isn't going to lose sleep over that.
2.) people over-rate the impact that grad transfer have on teams. Since the grad transfer rule started being utilized, only 4.6% of the grad transfers were drafted by the NBA. We're talking about middle of the rotation type of guys here. Once again, I don't think a new coach is going to lose sleep over that.
i think getting top donors to commit to a large buyout during COVID-19 was a tall task. That was probably the reason for the delay.
Currie got the job done.
also, have to think that @douggie is right that they waited until they found a replacement
a month ago, Chaundee Brown went to social media and praised Manning. "He's a great coach and there isn't another coach i'd rather play for)
ten days ago, Brown announced he was leaving Wake Forest. have to think Brown knew something that we didn't at the time
Anyone else transferring?
imagine having as many 4* recruits Manning has had and still having his record. it just boggles my mind. now that he's gone, it's pretty comical to think about
Sarr might be Europe bound, no idea on Mucius and Massoud
massoud being kicked around on the UConn board mostly because
1) we badly need a stretch 4; and
2) he played with a few of our kids at Macduffie
Why don't they just go with Childress?
Childress' only coaching experience has been serving under Jeff Bzdelik and Danny Manning. no thanks.
and tbh, i hope that the new coach doesn't retain him.
i think Mucius can break out as an upper classmen.
i still have no idea what type of player Massoud projects to be as he gets older and stronger.
Was just gonna say seems like they're saving payroll
I don't know if Wes Miller is in the Deacs plans or not but I like him a lot.
i think if you go the SoCon route, you have to give Steve Forbes a call first.
Miller is a nice backup plan. Both Forbes and Miller have had multiple top 100 teams at their respective schools. That's pretty impressive for the SoCon.
My thoughts are that Miller is already well known in central NC and he has proven himself to be a good recruiter which should go a long way in recruiting in- state talent to Wake. I'm not the Wake AD so I don't know what he's got in mind but I would like to see the Deacs to become competitive again in the ACC.
