"'This afternoon, Danny Ferry requested, and I have approved, taking an indefinite leave of absence, effective immediately,' Hawks CEO Steve Koonin said in a statement Friday."

"Koonin has resisted calls that Ferry be fired but says 'it is my hope that this time away from the Hawks organization allows him the privacy he needs to listen to the community, to learn about his mistakes, and to begin the long process of personal healing.'"

"Ferry said he was 'repeating comments that were gathered from numerous sources during background conversations and scouting different players,' and that he repeated those comments in the call during a discussion of free agents."

Man, why can't anything go right for this crap franchise? Ferry's the best GM we've had in a while (certainly better than the last one that signed Joe Johnson to that ridiculous contract). He's probably going to resign in a few days now. Wouldn't be surprise if we got stuck with some crap GM soon after that fires Budenholzer after one season. :L

How many players will be attracted by a GM who has that rolling out of his mouth.

Cant see many. He is now a detractor to that office that seeks top attract players

He was paraphrasing something from a scout report. He did not say this on his own. When Stephen A is defending him you know he did nothing wrong.

Here is the full five-page report, thanks to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. The comment in question is on the second page and comes from a former member of the Cleveland Cavaliers' front office.

He's a good guy on the cover, but he's an African. He has a little two step in him = says what you like to hear, but behind closed doors he could be killing you. Con isn't bad, but it's there. African-like, store front looks great but there's a black market section in the back.

There's your answer. The comments came from a member of the Cavs front office

So you're telling me that rich, white people who make their money off of underpaying black athletes tend to be racially insensitive? Shocker. Why do we keep expecting people who are involved with sports to be pillars of morality?
