DAL acquires Sergei Gonchar from OTT for conditional 6th round pick. I would expect Gonchar to sign extension with Stars but has KHL offer.

Wait a minute, that doesn't seem right.

Shouldn't have Ottawa been able to at least get a better return on the trade, I don't know, lets say a 4th rounder and Alex Chiasson for Gonchar?

Are you telling me the days of fleecing Dallas are over?

The Sens are gonna be very young next year.

They're also gonna in tough to reach the cap floor. If Alfie retires they're really gonna have to make some interesting moves.

The effects of a bidding war with the KHL, and a team that needs to hit the cap floor.
And a team that was willing to pay avery $16m :)

jesus that is alot of coin. I think their plan is to do the same to gonchar that they did with Jagr. use him for most the year and trade to a contender to get prospects... that aint happening with a 2 year deal at $10M for an old player.

TWO YEARS? They're crazy. Of course I'm sure Sarge wouldn't have stayed for one, not with the KHL calling.

I think that's pretty much what prompted Ottawa to relinquish his rights.

This seems excessive. I'd expect Gonch to play pretty well this year (he wants to secure a spot on the Olympic team I think). That second year could be ugly though, IMO.

Still it leaves a hole on the Sens blue line to fill

by committee, methinks.
Weircioch (sp?) looks to have been a nice addition that might have been a surprise (was to me, anyways).
Gryba and Cowen ready for larger roles too?

/edit: nope. Mattola is right. :thumb:
