He was good all season on December 11 so ..........

Dude, the script was written.

He was not the QB1 all season.

There wasn’t a better matchup or a more obvious pro blow up game script all season long.

December 11th or whatever the date would be he had already put up good stats. Only thing missing was a need for him by a playoff team at that date but that was a matter of luck with when a injury happens.

a deadline just takes away opportunity from teams that badly need it

well, I'll share my reasoning for my vote, but I don't want to get into a debate, as I don't feel all that strongly one way or the other.

I voted just based off my personal opinion that once the playoff start, rosters should be locked- to an extent. Obviously that doesn't apply to free agents, waivers.

But yeah it's just that simple, that cut and dry, for me.

I totally understand and see the other perspective, and I'm totally fine with it if we go that way, but those reasonings, while valid, don't sway my opinion.

Seems like everyone has dug their heels in. I appreciate the honesty and the dialogue.

Everything went down fairly because the rules allowed it. But the inner Nostradomas in me sees this biting someone next season.

Aren't you in a bunch of boring leagues like that already? I know I am.

Nice to have some variations

But also that matchup and situation.

For 1 week Baker Mayfield was the best QB in fantasy football. And it was highly predictable based on the matchup and what TB needed to do to get to the playoffs.

That was not the case on December 11. Nobody was ranking him as the top dog for that 3 week run. Saw quite a few DFS people say Baker was top QB for week 17.

With out an injury no one trades for Mayfield. If a playoff bound team loses their starter December 9th then they are going to try to trade for Mayfield at that time. The match up being nice was just frosting.

It is probably true.

But there would have been others.

And that is exactly why playoff trades shouldn’t happen.

That matchup being the “frosting”.

That sounds like a gift.

Does the deal help you?

Yes.

But it potentially helps the playoff team in an way that seems unfair to me.

Before this whole discussion I was a fan of the no trade deadline. More so because I thought people would try to take advantage of the playoff teams.

If people are only looking to do fair trades then it absolutely sucks. Because again, they can make the same or similar trade during the off-season. And not kill someone else’s season. It absolutely can be seen as collusion. We know each other well to know that that is not the case. But if any owner ever loses because of this, hell will come down to this league in a potential bloodbath.

I usually wait for the off season to hose myself in trades.

You feel that way because that's been the norm, if your leagues never had deadlines you wouldn't care about deadlines. I was in your camp until recently. Now having experienced a trade fest during the playoffs, I'm like why was I ever opposed to it? Holy cow that was a blast, chatter was non stop, hard nose horse trading at it best, trade talks was intense between parties. Non playoff teams reaped a bunch, should be a very competitive league next season.

It is the norm.

But I am quite sure I would feel that way regardless

I'll agree to disagree. There are trades made during the season I really hate and I'm sure there could be trades I hate in the playoffs but trades and the draft are the life blood that make FF exciting and you got take the bad with the good. Plain as that.
