Jagoffs are planning to use him at SS.

The Jaguars are expected to use rookie Johnathan Cyprien "close to the line of scrimmage" as an in-the-box strong safety.
The 33rd pick in the draft, Cyprien is locked in as a Week 1 starter and will be a sneaky candidate to lead Jacksonville in tackles. Jaguars DBs coach DeWayne Walker was impressed with Cyprien at rookie minicamp. "He’s tough, he has really good instincts and I think he’s smart," said Walker. "After one day, you see the things on the field that we thought we would get out of him."

I'll be keeping my eye on Thomas and Rambo. I wanted one to pair with Reid.

Phillip Thomas - DB - Redskins
The Redskins see No. 119 overall pick Phillip Thomas as a free safety.
Thomas led the nation with eight interceptions last season at Fresno State, and he also forced four fumbles. He's a true center-field cover safety. Coach Mike Shanahan said he thinks sixth-round S Bacarri Rambo can play strong safety, although Rambo acknowledged that he feels more comfortable at free safety. Thomas has a chance to start opposite SS Brandon Meriweather in Week 1.

Yeah, and based on the numbers I can find for Cyprien (nfldraftscout), Reid outperformed him in every test. Obviously that's not the be-all, end-all of athleticism, but these are tests specifically designed to test athleticism.

Reid is the better player, not to mention he played against NFL talent every week in the SEC

True. I do agree that the burden is not on him alone and will receive tons of help!

At the same time, we're talking about covering the likes of Larry Fitz, Malcom Floyd, Percy Harvin, Sidney Rice, Tavon Austin, Givens/Quick.

Luckily those guys aren't as good as DeAndre Hopkins. Thank God! So we won't have to see any 13 catches for 191 yards and two touchdowns anytime soon.

Matt Elam - DB - Ravens

According to the Baltimore Sun, first-round S Matt Elam played with "obvious confidence" in Ravens' rookie minicamp.

Per reporter Aaron Wilson, Elam lined up at free safety, and was "intercepting passes and barking out defensive signals." Coach John Harbaugh came away impressed. "Matt really picked things up quickly," Harbaugh said. "He really did a nice job of communicating in the back end which isn't usual for a rookie. ... He was very forceful back there and played fast. He looked good." Elam will start as a rookie.

so MAYBE the 49ers also saw his strength as more "in the box"?

3 Years at LSU playing in the SEC which is closest to NFL talent as it comes, or playing at Fla Atlantic? Reid all day and twice on Sunday and the top management team in the NFL from San Fran agrees with me and not you, thanks

That guy who you are obviously attracted to like a woman is Chi Cheng, former bassit of the deftones, and he's from California. Not Michigan.

Take a look at the player drafted from the SEC the past 3 years and let me know, the fact is the guy played in THE BEST CONFERENCE at a HIGH LEVEL. I had him #2 S behind Kenny V. And obvi so did the 49ers
