DFA does not necessarily equate to “get rid of”, but it certainly exposes them to that potentiality.
Didn’t try to indicate that was the case. In the case of McDonald, the Giants may not be ready to expose McDonald to waivers at this time is all I was trying to say.

The Giants will have to make a roster move later today to both add Hayden Birdsong to the 40-man roster and then the active roster.

Might they move Snell to the IL-60? That would give him until August to ramp up.

Just a thought.

He doesn’t want to be pressured. Is expecting him back by the end of august fair to him? Don’t be unreasonable.

I guess they're thinking Snell will actually be ready in July...
Awfully pushy of them. Aren’t they taking his feelings into account? Just because they are paying him the GDP of a small European country every year, how dare them actually want him to take the field.

Roupp up
Howard DFA’d

WTF? Howard wasn’t competing for an all-star spot, granted, but he wasn’t doing THAT bad. Maybe he had some kind of blowup after the game yesterday (COMPLETE speculation)?? DFAing him just doesn’t make sense after ONE melt down game.

That was partially our managers fault for leaving him in there too long.

The fact that they called up Roupp is a bit odd too. He was on the IL with Sacramento for a few weeks and had just started a rehab assignment in the ACL about a week and a half ago. He is basically being called up straight from rookie ball.

They were desperate for an arm…if they could have predicted Bivens start, they probably don’t make a move

They could have purchased a pitcher from AAA to be a stand in until Ray or Warren were ready. Roupp just seemed odd because he hadn't even made it back to AAA yet on his rehab assignment. How often do you hear of a guy getting called from rookie ball, even if on a rehab assignment, in order to pitch in the big leagues?

Yastrzemski activated and Roupp optioned.

I assumed that the open 40 man roster spot would be for Warren. However, the Giants claimed Kolton Ingram and optioned him to Richmond. Why?

Burgos and Brooks cleared waivers and assigned to Sacramento
