As I mentioned in another thread, he is one of about 30 pitchers competing for a spot in AAA.
Not so sure about that. He's out of options so if he doesn't make the SF roster, he'd need to clear waivers to go to Sac.

He was signed to a minor league deal. He isn’t on the 40.

I think Huff's claim was a precursor to this, although it is weird to replace a guy with options with a guy with no options. That said, Sabol's bat wasn't looking that good in AAA.
I got zero Fs to give about potentially losing Sabol. The guy never seemed like an asset to me.

It's a bummer for Blake Sabol but not unexpected. The Giants did not view him as a backup catcher in 2024 and his bat is fringey at first base or left field. That said, another team might be willing to take a chance on his power.

Did someone let FZ sneak back into the transaction room?

Didn’t we have a “Basabe” a few years back? Is this the same guy?

The Tampa Bay Rays have traded INF Osleivis Basabe to the San Francisco Giants in exchange for cash considerations.

If the last name sounds familiar, it's because Osleivis Basabe is a cousin to Luis Alexander Basabe, who appeared briefly and provided a spark of energy for the Giants in 2020. The 40-man roster is now full.

Osleivis was a top ten prospect in the TB system prior to 2024. Good defender but the bat is poor and got worse in 2024. Still only 24 years old so hoping for some growth. If not, he's AAA depth that can handle SS defensively.

He is also a cousin of Luis Matos.
