I am really puzzled by the infatuation with Teng. He just turned 26. He walks about 5 per 9 innings. He K's about 10 per 9. He is big (6' 4" 260 lb), but the higher he goes in the minors, the worse he gets. He had an 8.60 ERA at Sacramento last season in 75 innings, so not a tiny sample size. Puzzling.
Agree. It is odd

He signed a minor league contract. I am not sure there is anything more to it than that.

That struck me as well. We really blew our load over the last 2 years.
I also think it illustrates how shallow the farm really is. The two guys that were purchased in advance of the Rule 5 draft are iffy prospects. There isn't much at AAA (except for a lot of depth pieces, which the Giants will probably sign more of in the coming months).

Which is why I never outright poo-poo’d the national guy who rated our system at #30. We have plenty of dime-a-dozen guys, but only 2 (3 if you count Arias; and ignoring Tibbs for the moment) serious prospects in the entire system (and arguably NO bluechippers)

I don't know enough about the other teams' farms to know how we'd rank but lowest 10 makes sense from what I see.

Yup. I am completely ignorant about other team’s systems. But I can’t imagine most teams are not stronger than us when you look at what we (don’t) have.

Average roster again to finish with an average record to get an average draft pick to blow on someone who they fail to develop.

Huff claimed off waivers
Warren DFA’d

As always, I am holding off on adding Verlander until it is official.

Posey's first waiver claim and its a catcher from the same org that took in the guy Posey replaced on the Giants.
I figured Warren was a dfa candidate but a bit shocked he was the first to be jettisoned, especially since Sabol is superfluous now.

I dunno, Sabol does still offer some positional flexibility. As a util/3rd catcher he may be seen as useful.

Well, if he could play decent defense and/or have at least an average bat. I'm not so sure about either any longer.

Giants signed Miguel Diaz to a minor league deal with an invite to ST.
