He was DFA’d, wasn’t he? So technically, he doesn’t belong in the FA list. But the difference is so minute at this time of year, I won’t bother fixing it.
Yes, he was dfa'd. And I believe that since he has 7 years of professional experience (counting the canceled season), he could become a minor league free agent if no one claims him.

about a dozen I think, seven picked SF
I do wonder their rationale. The buzz has been that there is a rift between the organization and the pitcher that likely made him as good as gone. Do the execs not know about that rumor, feel that it is overblown and know that the issue has been smoothed out?

Yaz and Warren sign 1 year deals.

No word on Doval, Wade or Rogers, but seeing as none of them were “no tendered”, I assume that means they were “tendered”.

Smart move. If they don’t get their power hitting outfielder they still have Yaz.

Have not heard anything on Doval, Wade or Rogers either but there are close to 50 players around the league who have been nontendered. I think the deadline has passed but it seems information is still coming out on nontenders. The Giants are usually last to announce on mass transactions days like this but this is a new regime, so not sure what to make of it.

I think navigation of stuff like this is probably taken care of by Evans, so I would guess the organizational inertia will apply.

With the official announcement of the Tenders, I removed the arb section.

Wade, Doval and Rogers are still set to go through arbitration. Being tendered a contract doesn't mean a deal has been made. It only means the Giants intend to sign the player but they still have to hammer out the amount being paid to the player, either on an an actual contract or through arbitration.

True. But it also means the Giants are contractually obligated to honor AT LEAST the arbitrators value (obviously with some wiggle room; see Davis, JD).

For all intents and purposes, they are all now under contract, even if TECHNICALLY, they are not. They are not free to talk to other teams and they take up 40-spots.

Yes, you are correct on that but labeling them as arbitration eligible and then removing them from that list when tendered a contract is technically incorrect. Perhaps place all players not on multi year deals as "needing contracts tendered" and remove that designation after the nontender deadline? The problem of that idea, though, is that most of the guys on the 40 man roster would have to be placed in that category. Teams can nontender pre-arb guys as well.

Apparently the Giants non-tendered Ethan Small. He was not eligible for arbitration, so this is an example of what @LHG was talking about.

I completely missed that nontender. I just saw that Teng got nontendered as well.
Teng was DFA’d. It is possible that Small was DFA’d as well, but that it was just not announced.

That is correct that Teng was DFA'd. This didn't happen, to my knowledge, until last year, where teams would dfa a player just before the nontender deadline and then nontender the player. This eliminates any limbo the player may be in as a dfa'd player and makes the player an unrestricted free agent.

I don't know if Small was DFA'd first or just nontendered. Both scenarios can plausibly happen (dfa and then nontendered or just nontendered) and we know that dfa situations often are not known until the player has been traded, sent outright to the minor leagues or has declared minor league free agency. Since none of those have happened on Small, we may never know if he was first dfa'd.

Seeing as the Rule V is done and it has been announced that Adames passed the physical, I added Adames to the 40

I am really puzzled by the infatuation with Teng. He just turned 26. He walks about 5 per 9 innings. He K's about 10 per 9. He is big (6' 4" 260 lb), but the higher he goes in the minors, the worse he gets. He had an 8.60 ERA at Sacramento last season in 75 innings, so not a tiny sample size. Puzzling.
