I noticed that defensive configuration as well. And didn’t understand it at all.

I am not against DFAing Hill, but I thought he performed relatively decently since joining the team. But getting upset either way just isn’t worth any brain bandwidth.

I’m just trying to understand the whole process here. What was the point in picking him up? To see what he could do? It was what he’d done in Texas. If that wasn’t good enough, given what he’d done in previous years in the big leagues, why even pick him up?
And why say that they need a guy to play center so they could shift Ramos to the corner when the guy that they were starting in one of the corners handles center so well? (And then bring in another corner guy too?)
It isn’t as much about Hill as in trying to understand the rhyme and reasons of this FO. It confounds me why they do these things.

I am OK with keeping Yaz in right. Right at Oracle is probably more demanding than center, so keeping your premier defender there makes sense. Playing Ramos in Center and Hill in left, however, makes absolutely zero sense.

Bigger picture, though, is Matos’ fielding. We have heard about his stellar defense for years. He was hailed as the best OF defender in the entire system (SF included) for a while. But when he shows up, he shits the bed left and right. Where is the disconnect on that? That concerns be.
