Nick Ahmed, #forevergiant, did exactly what he was expected to do. Play great defense and mostly suck ass at the plate. Hit to his career averages. Best of luck, Nick.
No hard feelings. He did exactly what was expected. He was a positive clubhouse guy and played solid ++ defense. I wonder if Wisely “won” the job, or just qualified as “good enough” to allow them to cut ties with Ahmed? Ray will need to be added to the 40 in the next week or so, so we needed the slot, either way. Warren likely needs a spot as well, soon, but that will probably be Ingram.

Exactly. Ahmed lasted longer than I thought he would.

Last I checked you weren't a dimwit.

Of course it'll be a platoon.
From Pavs, today:

Luciano was 9-for-24 during that run in the big leagues, but his OPS in a hitter-friendly Triple-A league is under .700 and he has just three homers. A hot streak could very easily put him back into the big league mix, but for now the Giants will lean on Wisely and Fitzgerald. Manager Bob Melvin said the two would platoon at short.
"Obviously you don't see as many lefties, so Wisely is going to get predominantly the most at-bats, but (there's) in-game (changes) too," Melvin said. "Wisely has swung the bat pretty well against lefties but I think both of them are going to get an opportunity to play."

Wade Meckler finally got activated off the minor league IL . . . in Eugene. He started a rehab assignment in June with the ACL and then San Jose before getting shut down. He resumed again in late June and is now in Eugene. Seems weird that they would place him all the way down there.
