A team on a bare bones budget shopping for players in the Land Of Broken Toys can only go so far against the power house spending if the Padres and Dodgers. A solid bullpen though
Go away Nolan/Monty. Stop trying to force your way to places you aren't wanted.

It must just chafe him that he's outed immediately every time on this board.
His problem is he's so dumb he doesn't know how to disguise his posting style. What a lonely life.

It looks like Bryce Johnson, who was in the midst of a rehab assignment, has been optioned back to AAA.

You know, that Cal Stevenson guy really looks like something. Johnson cannot even get close to what he is doing at the big league level.

The Giants have put together a quality offense (106 wRC+) and it is interesting where they are getting the most production:
LaMonte Wade Jr. - 165 wRC+
Thairo Estrada - 160 wRC+
J.D. Davis - 138 wRC+
Mike Yastrzemski - 130 wRC+

Compared to what some (myself included) expected to get production from:
Joc Pederson - 97 wRC+
Mitch Haniger - 79 wRC+
Michael Conforto - 75 wRC+

Haniger missed most of the 1st month, but this is to point out that the Giants have been one of the better NL teams in terms of offense and have not yet gotten steady contributions from some of their key guys.

While I was generally disappointed with Haniger and Conforto as the frosting of the off season, I was expecting/hoping they would still be net positive additions. Heck, I still expect that that is exactly what they will end up being. But they sure have been disappointing thus far.

Pedo is what he is. A streaky, no glove-owning piece of shit who doesn’t take the game seriously. He may be able to “turn me” eventually, but his hole is so deep in my eyes, I seriously doubt it. Next to Pierzynski, probably my #1 most unfavorite Giant ever.

The Giants called up Schmitt. Ruf DFA'd and Stevenson sent down.
A bit surprised on Ruf getting the dfa. He had been in a rehab assignment at AAA. I guess they felt he wasn't going to be worth carrying? Its weird because he was doing better than I expected with the Giants. Hey, it makes the team younger and gives the prospects chance to show what they got.

I like Ruf. But he was always flirting with the bottom of the roster. DFAing him hurts the feels, but it is probably the right move from a business perspective.

The quickness of it makes it look like another acquisition that didn't need to happen in the first place. And wasn't the Giants only paying him the league minimum?

Austin Slater is back on the IL with the left hamstring strain he suffered yesterday. Bryce Johnson was called up.
