Roster Moves

- OF Heliot Ramos recalled from Triple-A Sacramento
- OF Matt Beaty optioned post-game yesterday to Triple-A Sacramento
Clearly, Beaty needed to work on this offspeed pitches and needed some time to develop them in the minors . . .
I think that there has not been a transaction pre-game twice this season. FZ has got a hot hand going!

Unofficially, the expectation is that Bart will be activated tomorrow and Wynns will be sent down.

Got to have some transaction before tomorrow's game! I wouldn't be surprised if Wynns is kept on the roster and someone else is sent down or put on the IL. Ramos seems ripe for a demotion.

He has only had 1 hit since he was called up. He clearly needs more seasoning. And I think this would qualify as one of his longest MLB stints.

All good points. Plus, the manager had to pull him from the game. He clearly does not have the defensive chops. Pederson may need to play left field because there are no other choices.

This move opens up a spot on the 40-man roster. For the time being, the Giants will carry only 2 catchers on the roster in Joey Bart and Blake Sabol.

Joey Bart recorded 3 hits in 7 at-bats during his brief rehab assignment. With Pérez on the injured list and Sánchez likely a couple of weeks away from being ready, Bart should see a lot of playing time.

If I had to guess, the Giants are probably getting close to needing to make a decision on Blake Sabol. He'll need to hit to stick around.

Cuz Jelly sucks?
Ruf has a career ERA of 6.00 Vs Hjelli’s career ERA of 6.39.

Not a huge improvement, but I guess every little bit helps. Prob is that Ruf is 36 while Hjelli is 25. Pretty good chance that they are going in the opposite directions.

I just realized, Ruf makes the Giants younger and more athletic, just like FZ said was the target for 2023!

And he promised fewer transactions. I believe there have been 2 or 3 games so far this season that didn’t have a transaction before game time.

Clearly a man of his word.

Maria Guardado:

"Ruf’s return brings the most lopsided trade of the Farhan Zaidi era full circle. The 36-year-old slugger carved out a key role with San Francisco due to his track record of crushing left-handed pitching, but his production dried up in New York, where he batted only .152/.216/.197 with zero home runs over 28 games.
Ruf’s struggles continued this spring, prompting the Mets to designate him for assignment and eat the remaining $3.25 million left on his contract. If Ruf works his way back to the big leagues, the Giants will owe him only the prorated minimum MLB salary of $720,000. "

Kinda cool but pointless if he hits like he did last year. Good first game though.

He also said that he cares more than the average FO head about players and sees them as persons. Not sure I believed that one either.
