This is FZ’s idea of fewer transactions.Let the churn begin. Impressive start! One game in the can, and four roster moves!

FZ probably got so excited about extension talks that he couldn't help himself. This is FZ’s idea of fewer transactions.
Wow, 3 for 3 on game day transactions. FZ is at the top of his game!Bart to the 10-day

I really like this new, roster-stability FZ.Wow, 3 for 3 on game day transactions. FZ is at the top of his game!
You mean, another trade besides the Beaty acquisition? Oh boy.Just saw Pavs on the pregame show. The reason Bryce was sent down and delayed coming back up because FZ was working on a trade that didn't happen. They needed the roster spot for a day.
He had his eye on a 32 year old backup AA 2B.You mean, another trade besides the Beaty acquisition? Oh boy.
Seems like another L for the org to mask a demotion as a "chance to ramp back up", at least, that is my perception after the Wisely and Johnson gaffes. From Baggs today:
Bart will miss enough time that it will be easy for the Giants to option him to Triple-A Sacramento as a way to “ramp him back up” — with the additional convenience that it happens to be true. Perhaps then, Bart could work on his contact and catching skills in the minors without it being seen as a true demotion.
Again, that was to make room for a trade that ended up not happening. Not sure it was a 'gaffe.'Seems like another L for the org to mask a demotion as a "chance to ramp back up", at least, that is my perception after the Wisely and Johnson gaffes.
I don't know what goes on behind closed doors but I have my doubts that was not a "gaffe". The question still stands, why talk up Johnson and then decide to make two trades the day before Opening Day? Beaty is totally unnecessary, I don't see what he brings over Johnson. The difference seems negligible (but time will tell).Again, that was to make room for a trade that ended up not happening. Not sure it was a 'gaffe.'
Re: Bart -- FZ didn't draft him. Also, he really likes Gary Sanchez apparently.
We shall see. Hurry up and get ready, Bailey.
So much for a "shoulder strain" as some media were reporting Perez' injury.![]()

That .814 OPS is weighed down significantly by his .701 that he posted with the Giants in 2022 before the trade. His overall 2022 OPS, in his age 35 season, was .645. He didn't exactly distinguish himself this year in spring training, posting a .498 OPS in 35 PAs.Jayson Stark

Darin Ruf is re-signing with the @SFGiants on a minor-league deal, sources tell The Athletic.
He spent 2020-22 with the Giants, then got traded to the Mets, who released him before Opening Day.
Best OPS, Giants RH hitters 2020-22
Ruf .814
Austin Slater .781
Evan Longoria .778
Ruf was a potential target for his original team, the Phillies, who have lost Rhys Hoskins and Darick Hall to injuries.
As soon as it happened I said to my buddy at the game that he was headed for the IL and that would be the last we see of him.So much for a "shoulder strain" as some media were reporting Perez' injury.
If Bum was being paid by the snakes to pitch for us in Sacto, he'd be there too. That .814 OPS is weighed down significantly by his .701 that he posted with the Giants in 2022 before the trade. Again, I loved what he did with the team in 2020 and 2021 and was glad he finally got a chance to hit in the big leagues, but he turns 37 in July, the Giants have younger options to post the same kind of production and need to think about giving more rookies a shot. If the Giants can move on from Bumgarner when he was younger and showing signs of trouble, then they can move on from Ruf.
