I am quite certain I am still missing SOMETHING, but rosters are updated.

It looks correct to me but it has 54 players and the team website said that there are 51 players in camp. That means that they are either not counting Jackson, Gonzalez and maybe one other guy (Yajure?) since they are injured and unlikely to play in camp or there are 3 more guys that have been reassigned that we are not aware of.

You would think in the age of the internet, this kind of data would be easier to find. But instead it has just made everyone too lazy to worry about the basic stuff.

Matos optioned.
I know that the initial assignment given upon being optioned in spring training isn't necessarily where the player will begin the season but I do find it interesting that they optioned him to Richmond. I assumed, considering his age, that he would at least start the season in Eugene after his struggles there last year and if he started hot would quickly move up to Richmond. I guess, with his successful spring, they want to be aggressive with his movement through the org. Again, assuming this assignment is where they intend him to be.

It is a little surprising, but he was so hot at the end of the season last year that I suspect they are basically “forgiving” his rough year. I think they like him a lot.

With him, Brown and McCray, we have a full OF of legit prospects who could all be graduated within the next season and a half or so. Include Luciano in this group as well (assuming he will migrate to the OF and his injury issues are not career threatening).

2023 Spring Training Roster

Non-Roster Invites (16)

Melvin Adon (R)
Mauricio Llovera (R)
Kade McClure (R)
Sergio Romo (R)
Miguel Yajure (R)

Brett Auerbach
Robert Emery
Roberto Perez
Max Wright
Austin Wynns

Jimmy Glowenke
Ford Proctor
Casey Schmitt
Will Wilson

Bryce Johnson
Stephen Piscotty
I thought I'd look at the last game appearance for each of the remaining 15 non-roster invitees (not counting Romo in this group since he won't make Opening Day anywhere) and I found that most of the position players played today. However, Robert Emery has only made 1 game appearance and that was March 4th. Max Wright has yet to appear in a game. Jimmy Glowenke hasn't played since March 11th.
Of the pitchers, both Adon and Llovera last appeared March 17th and McClure on March 19th. Yajure, however, has yet to pitch in a game.

I would guess that Yajure, Emery, Wright and Glowenke got reassigned earlier in camp and no one bothered to report about it.

From the team website:
March 25: RHP Melvin Adon, C/IF Brett Auerbach, RHP Mauricio Llovera, RHP Kade McClure, OF Stephen Piscotty, IF/C Ford Proctor, IF Will Wilson and RHP Miguel Yajure reassigned
The Giants announced another round of cuts Saturday night, reassigning eight players to Minor League camp ahead of the Bay Bridge Series exhibitions in the Bay Area on Sunday and Monday. San Francisco's Spring Training roster now stands at 35. With five non-roster invitees remaining in Giants camp -- including Roberto Pérez, who has made the team, per manager Gabe Kapler, and Sergio Romo, who is set for a final sendoff at Oracle Park -- the Opening Day roster is beginning to come into focus.
March 25: RHP Cole Waites optioned to Minor League camp
Waites was expected to compete for a spot in the Opening Day bullpen this spring, but he ended up missing most of Cactus League action with a lat strain. He struck out two over a scoreless inning against the Guardians on March 23, but he'll need more time to build up before becoming a Major League option for the Giants.

Just reported on KNBR…

rosters are set. And Giants made a trade. I don’t see it in MLBTR yet, but I will update the roster soon…

Cal's post went up while I was typing apparently.

Beaty is a head scratcher. I guess FZ knows him from his time in LA.

Anyone know anything about Beatty?

He is only 29, but he doesn’t appear to have much of a bat, and his defensive metrics (I am only looking at it since I have nothing else to go by) says he is a net negative. Maybe they just want Bryce to prove it in “real” games before he gets added back?
