I guess that one at-bat where he struck out was all that they needed to see.
Good. We need more OFers in Sacto.Sounds like they're trying to pull a Mike Gerber and stash him in AAA
The team has been fairly quiet, recently, on acquiring catchers. There must be a rush coming.Good. We need more OFers in Sacto.
If that is all they really wanted, why not just wait until he cleared waivers and just sign him to a minor league deal? If they were so afraid of not acquiring him that way just a week ago, what makes them think he'll sneak through this time?Sounds like they're trying to pull a Mike Gerber and stash him in AAA

He makes 1M. But he doesn’t have the service time to be able to refuse an assignment and keep that money. If he cleared waivers, he would have stayed in the Phils system. If that is all they really wanted, why not just wait until he cleared waivers and just sign him to a minor league deal? Now that is a very good point I didn't think about. He makes 1M. But he doesn’t have the service time to be able to refuse an assignment and keep that money. If he cleared waivers, he would have stayed in the Phils system.
Bergen was placed on the 10-day yesterday and Solano was recalled. Solano was not down long enough to activate his option.
While a good point in general, I don’t think it applies here. Bergen has done well enough to not have to hide.Bergen has to be on the active roster at least 90 days for his rule-V status to be met. If he falls short, it will carry over to next year. He's been active for 53 days.
This is likely just a short-term injury, but something to keep in mind.

While his 4.24 ERA is a bit high, his peripherals are just fine. 1.235 WHIP and 15/7 K/BB in 17 IP is quite useful.
Even if Moronta was optioned, Solano wouldn't have been called back up due to the 10 day rule. Only an injury allows the team to get around that rule.Didn't mean to insinuate that they're hiding him, the opposite in fact. If they hide him they have to hold him again next year for at least 90 days.
I think this move was just so they could call Solano back up without having to send down Moronta.
Some would say that FZ saw the 10-day's full potential.Krukow mentioned something this AM that I was not aware of...
Next season, the IL will go back to 15 days. FZ broke the 10-day concept.
I thought I read somewhere that he declared free agency but I cannot remember the source.Altherr was claimed by the Mets yesterday.
Anyone hear anything on Solarte?
