And that really seems to be all this was about. Maybe if the media acted with a little more responsibility, and took the word of the organization, doctors and Sid himself... a little more seriously, they might not have had to organize something like the dog and pony show they had today.

Yep. Especially knowing that Crosby is a pretty quiet/private person, this was just to quell all the endless questions/speculation. Good move by the organization. Hopefully this dampens the volume issue for awhile and gives Crosby a little peace and quiet... at least as much as a superstar athlete can expect.
