I have to hand it to you though, I think we lost this year not because of goaltending but because of Thomas stonewalling us.

Eh... We are where we are because TT has stonewalled everyone. I mean, yes, we swept you guys but the threat was always there. If you had better goaltending that series could have easily gone 6 or 7. Could have changed everything. But finally you guys pick someone up that could really change everything.

I said it before. Now that you guys picked up a netminder. I'm picking Buffalo or Philly to take the East. Obviously those picks could change in the offseason.

Honestly, I am in total shock that there is a very high chance we will have a solid #1 in front of a very good team. Mid season this year we tore it up, and didnt have Bryz in front of us.

Only concern is the playoffs, but I think we can all agree the Flyers are a better team to play behind than the Yotes.

This is just for the right to negotiate with him before July 1st. No guarantee he will be a Flyer next season as it looks like he will test the market. This is the same situation with Dan Hamhuis last summer and he ended up in Vancouver.

You guys had no chance to sign Hamhuis. He wanted to play in his home province and even said as much.

The positive in this for Flyers fans is that management is showing that they realize the issues they have and are willing to go after a name and fix the problem. They just have some shuffling to do if they're going to sign him.

I'm not getting too excited about this yet. The Flyers have screwed in these situations in the past. Ahem...Hamhuis and Nabokov. Hopefully, Homer doesn't get raped...I bet he does though.

as someone mentioned in the other thread, he was making REALLY silly salary demands in the desert.
looking to be not only among the highest paid goalies, but among the highest paid players in the league.

Could just be a way of saying he really, really doesn't want to be in Phoenix (or Glendale at least.... they won't be able to maintain the parks anyways) - but if he really expects to get paid like a champ, it's going to take a hell of an offer from Philly to lock him up before July 1.

Ferraro said Bryz wants a 7 year contract so lets not completely put those Schneider for JVR rumors out to pasture yet

The Flyers will lock him up before July 1st. I have faith in that. How many years has it been since this team has had a top notch netminder? This signing will be way, way overdue and clearing the cap space will be the easiest part. It's not even an urgent issue. You can be over the cap by 10% in the offseason.
