Jim Harbaugh: Michael Crabtree is best 'catcher' ever - NFL.com

According to his HC, he is.

"People talk about cold weather and it'd be tough to catch balls," coach Jim Harbaugh told reporters after the game, per the Bay Area News Group. "But the greatest catcher of all time,Michael Crabtree, catches everything. It's unbelievable.

I realize he's all euphoric about the win over Green Bay but to say he's the greatest catcher ever?

Better than Calvin Johnson of the Lions? Really?

Or better than Jerry Rice?

If I listed a top 10 on this, Crabtree wont make it. Not even sure he'd make the top 25.

Jim has a penchant for hyperbole. He once said Crabtree has the greatest hands he's ever seen (Crabtree had 8 drops one year). He's all manic all the time. That's what I love about him.

I can see how other teams have a "WTF" reaction to him though.

I've never once heard a receiver called a "catcher." The only sport I know of that has a catcher is baseball. Is this going to be some stupid new fad like calling athletes "athletic" and 7-footers "long?"

I think, what he was going for, is to say there's more to being a WR than just catching the ball and maybe he was trying to say that when it comes to just that one aspect of it - Crabtree is the best ever.

I guess if Harbaugh says something, I'm going to disagree by default. I can think of five receivers I think are better.

I guess by great "catcher" he means great hands?

Cris Carter comes to mind when you talk about great hands.

Larry Fitz has the best hands of players today.

He might have the best hands on his own team but wouldn't even say he has the best hands in the NFL right now. There are at least a few right now in the NFL I would take over him as to say they have better hands. So then throwing out the idea of best hands ever seems out there even for Jimmy.

Calvin doesn't have the best hands...he's got size and strength and good leap that makes him what he is.

A quick look at the Drops Leaderboard rules Calvin Johnson out of the "Greatest Catcher of AllTime" running.

Didn't Harbaugh also call that Bowman pick six in week 16 the greatest play ever?
