I don't know whether it's a weak hire or not. But the fact that no other team had interest in him is certainly no indication of such. No one else had Dan Campbell on their list when Detroit hired him, either. This is a lazy, copy-cat league with very little ingenuity.

On the "what are they doing" question, I think it is clear: they are going to play out the string with Dak and rebuild. Jerry made this bed, by stringing out the Dak and Ceedee contract talks only to re-sign them, now he has to lay in it.

I think the really interesting question is where Micah Parsons fits in. Do they franchise him? Does he stay with the Cowboys? Do they trade him for picks while they have control? That's the next big shoe to drop here but I predict he will not remain a Cowboy.

Really odd hire IMO - not sure why they didn’t just keep McCarthy unless it was just a money/contract dispute, I doubt Schottenheimer gets them farther than McCarthy would’ve. I don’t know what the Cowboys are doing really, and I wonder if no one else would take the job because of Jerry’s constant meddling with the team.

I understand why your hopes are up there but Micah isn't going anywhere. The Cowboys can resign Parsons to the largest contract for a defender and still clear $100M in cap space AFTER the deal is done, but they won't, because they are cheap. But its ludicrous to think they can't keep him
