I don't know whether it's a weak hire or not. But the fact that no other team had interest in him is certainly no indication of such. No one else had Dan Campbell on their list when Detroit hired him, either. This is a lazy, copy-cat league with very little ingenuity.
He picked someone who wouldn't push back. That's a weak hire. He couldn't make it work with a guy who's won a super bowl.

THIS

All NFL owners and league office learned everything from Jerry on how to maximize the brand and profits.
This is the Jerry legacy and all he gives a shit about.

Meantime
The first 30 Super Bowl seasons saw Dallas play in 15 Conference championship games and 8 Super Bowls.
Jerry made all the money and got his Gold Jacket while Cowboy fans start season number 30 without a conference championship game appearance.

Even with all this...I would not trade the last 60 years with any other football fan.
Better get your VHS tapes of when the Cowboys were actually winning things, transferred to DVD. VHS has a shelf life of like 25 years.

I heard a couple real goods ones tonight. This thread seems like a good spot to drop um. Somebody tell iggloo to unblock me and read this post.

If Washington plays Detroit in the NFC Championship game next year. Then all NFC conference teams will have played in the conference game TWICE since Dallas last appeared in the game.

Dallas is currently the 8th longest streak in the HISTORY OFTHE NFL of conference game appearance.

AND WOULDN'T YOU KNOW, not one of these statements were brought up during Jerry's hour long conference.

So disappointed.

I feel for you as a fan, i can relate when we had the murderer Georgia Frontiere was the owner.

Cowboys look to be putting together a pretty good staff IMO. None of it will matter if they don't do what literally every other team does and start bringing in some high $ free agents for the first time in over a decade of course, but that isn't the coaching staff's fault. OC looks like a good hire the more I read about him. Hopefully he still spends a lot of his time helping with the OL coaching

Shotty hire reminds me of the Dan Campbell hire and his first presser. At first glance no way this guy lasts 3yrs yet Dan turned the Lions around and are a very good team. Maybe Shotty if the FO can add a few more pieces through the draft/FA's he can get the Cowboys back on track in a year or 2.

the only problem with this theory is. Dan was allowed to change the culture to the way he wanted it.
In Cowboyland. This is Jerry's World :(

He can't change the culture of the FO to the top but maybe he can change the culture in the locker room with a different voice and vision.

well thats been the cowboy fans hopes & dreams, but any good player with sway skips coaches & goes to Jerry, :lm: which creates the wrong culture in the locker room.

solid point about relationships. The locker room is all teams sanctuary. Not even jerry cracks this nut.

I'm not saying that Dallas could not fit him under the cap, I am saying it may become a situation where it does not make sense for the player or the team.

If Dallas is basically in a losing situation either way and they could trade him for first rounders and a shot at a franchise Qb, trading Parsons and getting ammo to rebuild might make sense.

But yes, the more I read about Schottenheimer and his four-year contract, the same length as Dak's contract, the more it sounds like this is a bridge move of some kind by Jerry.
Lol, Micah is not going anywhere.

Totally agree. They got some decent assistant coaches. That coach from AZ will help in a lot of ways.

A change in philosophy on offense was needed. Now they need the players for the new offense. They got the tight ends in place for the transition. Still I am not sold on Dowdle as a #1 back. Luke warm on him returning.

Always starts with the HC. Team comes back healthy and makes the playoffs in my mind it's a good step in the right direction and build on it.
