There is no doubt the Cowboys D needs to get better and in particular the pass rush, but based on your comment, explain the Giants game the week before where he was even better? The Giants have a very good defense IMO and Rodgers had a better day against them.

The Giants had secondary injuries during the game. IIRC DRC left early on in the game and Jason Pierre Paul did not play and he is their best pass rusher. You are right the Giants have a much better defense. I think a lot of luck comes into play as well because that Hail Mary pass should have never been completed.

I am not saying that Rodgers is not all world. I have been saying he deserves to be the MVP. Hell some people were giving me shit about it earlier in the year.

I think on the Giants and Cowboys both DC's failed miserably. The Packers have shit for defense and any team should be able to score points on them. You just score more and I think the Cowboys are build offensively to outscore any team in the NFL. With that said you have to find a way to contain Rodgers......I know easier said than done but If you want to win championships great coaches find a way.

Green Bay has one of the worst defenses in the league.

He's arguing Dallas can't win because of a lack of defense......yet Green Bay's defense is much worse. So is Atlanta's.......yet one of these teams is going to the SB.

You can't win contradicting your own arguments.

He caught fire when the defense became gassed physically and physiologically because the Giants had an offense that just kept putting them back on the field

But Hail Mary aside, the Giants defense spent a decent part of that game handling Rodgers better than anyone

All 3 are very flawed defenses...Which usually means, they are all susceptible to having bad days on the wrong days....Dallas may have been better statistically all season, and I agree they are the better defense, but because they aren't much better than an average defense, you can have days like you did on Sunday

From what I watched he was shut down for one Qtr. He threw two TDs in the 2nd Qtr. If we play the shouldn't have game, then that last completion to Cook was total luck too. After it was 21-3 at the half, the Dallas D played fine overall. But Football is 4 Qtrs, not one or two. GB did what they had to both games. The other two teams did not.

On the Dallas D: They aren't as far from being good as most seem to think. Lawrence was never really healthy or in Football shape and he was their one pass rusher coming into the year. If J Smith is healthy that is another play maker. Who knows. They could be worse next year, but the pieces are there to be better, especially if they have a defensive heavy draft...which they should. The thing about sports is you never know

Assuming they stay healthy, this team is YOUNG and talented. Granted, they need a pass rush......but that's fixable.

We know what we have now. A young, DOMINANT OL......a great RB, and QB......good WRs. All we need is an edge rusher or two, maybe another speed LB.

You guys can make jokes, but this team is undoubtedly set up for the long run to be successful. Dallas is in prime position here.

Well, again, Hail Mary aside, cause YES, I believe its more luck than a reflection on how good your defense is, they held Rodgers to 7 points in the first half on his homefield

That was a helleva throw going to his left.
Durant made a horrible play going right at the blocker. I was taught in junior high you maintain the edge and never let the QB get outside. Durant had nobody in his zone, reacted too late and took the absolute wrong pursuit angle when he finally pulled his head out. Must be coaching.

Incredible Football play for sure. My point wasn't they were lucky and it shouldn't have happened. My point was more it's a 1 in 10 chance. Even with all Rodgers did and even though Cook did an amazing job getting his feet down he was inches from the sideline could very easily been out - heck the ref could have called the tackle on Irving but apparently didn't see it. So, same as the Hail Mary which was brought up as lucky. Many QBs air mail it out of the end zone. Rodgers put it in a spot to give his team a chance and his receiver maintained his composure (yes, pushed off) and made the play while the Giants D was bunched up like little kids chasing a soccer ball all trying to make a play on the pass and lost track of the man. Nothing to do but tip your cap to the best player in the game and move on.

A successful season in Dallas feels like a failure because of how it ended against the NFL's hottest quarterback and team, Aaron Rodgers and the Packers. The Packers won their eighth straight after Rodgers hit a miracle pass to Jared Cook in the waning seconds of Sunday's divisional playoff clash to set up the winning 51-yard field goal for a 34-31 win over the Cowboys.

The Cowboys have lost in the divisional round in their past four playoff appearances and haven't reached an NFC Championship since the 1995 season. Still, one loss shouldn't define the season. The Cowboys tied a franchise record with 13 regular-season wins and secured the NFC's top seed in the playoffs. The nine-win improvement is the biggest in the NFL from last season. Dallas also discovered that life after Tony Romo will not be bleak, thanks to Dak Prescott.

Here's a look at what's ahead for the Cowboys in the offseason.

What happens with Romo?
He would spend his entire NFL career with the Cowboys in a perfect world. But that's now impractical with Romo losing his nearly decade-long stranglehold on the starting quarterback job to Prescott, a 2016 fourth round pick, who took the job and ran with it after Romo was injured in the preseason.

Romo sounded like he still wanted to be an NFL starter in mid-November when he read a heartfelt statement conceding his job to Prescott to keep from being a distraction. He didn't show any rust leading the Cowboys to a touchdown in his lone drive against the Eagles during the regular-season finale, his first real game action since Week 12 in 2015.

Romo has the NFL's largest 2017 salary cap number at $24.7 million with a $14 million salary next season. He is scheduled to make $19.5 million and $20.5 million in 2018 and 2019, the final two years of his contract.

A salary of $14 million is unheard of for a backup quarterback. The average yearly salary for starting quarterbacks this season, including those on rookie contracts, is approximately $14.7 million, according to NFLPA data. Top backup quarterback money is currently $7 million to $7.5 million per year with incentives and salary escalators that could make a deal worth as much as $12 million per year. Romo taking a pay cut because he is making starting money seems remote because he doesn't want to be anybody's backup.

Trading Romo may not be easy. A robust trade market seems unlikely. Acquiring a quarterback with durability concerns who turns 37 in April doesn't make a lot of sense for teams in a complete rebuild, like the Brownsand 49ers. Ready-made teams that are a quarterback away from being legitimate Super Bowl contenders, such as the Broncos and Texans, likely would have the most appeal to Romo. The optimal time to deal Romo is between the beginning of the start of the 2017 league year trading period on March 9 and prior to the conclusion of the 2017 NFL draft on April 29 before rosters have taken shape.
