I have to admit the Cowboys finally got their draft shit together. For a while there Jerrah had me scratching my head. I still think he is too meddlesome (is that even a word...LOL). I think he need to let his coach pick his staff. I honesltly believe the reason the Cowboys are not still playing is because of the coaching staff.

He is too meddlesome and I completely agree the loss was on the coaching staff. But I think my complaining about them has come to an end because I don't think there is any chance Jerruh gets rid of his boy Garrett.

Just gotta hope Garrett keeps learning and developing like the players.

Brady and the Cheatriots are coming to an end.
Rodgers & Roethlisberger has a few more years left.
Eli is terrible.
Carr and Mariota will take some shine.

But no other team in the NFL has a brighter future than the Cowboys.

LMAO!

I going to LMAO even more when Prescott turns out to be another Shaun King, though King actually won a Playoff Game.

Seriously, if you dont know history you are doomed to repeat it.

He is too meddlesome, but he takes a back seat for the draft and the running of the team now. He just speaks like he doesn't. The Manziel thing is used by many to say he still makes the picks, but that would only be true if they had drafted Manziel. He had a guy he loved and wanted, yet the team still chose a different player. IMO Garrett and McClay are the two that make the decisions on who to draft. Everyone else including Jerry has input, but those are the two making the calls.

That makes perfect sense. They seem to have been amazing in the draft lately. No one can get every pick right but IMO they have been one of best drafting teams in the last 5 years.

I don't blame Garrett as much as I blame JJ for the coaching issues. As a coach you need to have full control and he does not have that. When you bring in a play caller you take power away from your head coach. I think Linnehan called a horrible game. The Cowboys should have played keep-away from Rodgers. Zeke was killing them and was unstoppable.

I don't see that happening. Now I hate the Cowboys...not going to deny that but I have to give props when they are earned. I watched a lot of Dak Prescott and I think he has what it takes. With that said he is going to face much stiffer competition next year and going against better defenses but he should be fine. There is now going to be lots of film on him.. What I like about him is that he was unflappable when he screwed up. He came back out and kept firing away. He is going to be a stud.

You counted 14 million from a WR 1 which is something already being accounted for. Therefore it's pointless to bring it up.

The only two in question would then be Dak and Zeke which I have already discussed where that money will come from.

Feel free to make a NEW argument or move the fuck along.

I'll give you a few new arguments...

1) You are counting on the Cap going up but not factoring in that contracts will also go up for players. So a QB that would be making $20 million this year might be making $30 million by the time 3-4 years has passed.

2) NFL teams look usually 3-years into the future. Beyond that hard to tell much of anything because of injuries, surprise players showing up, and so forth.

3) You are banking on the fact that you will only need to sign 3 players moving forward. There will be plenty of other players that will need to be signed that cut into that cap space. For example for the Broncos they have about $40 million in cap space right now. Well about $10 million will go to ERFA/RFA's, $5 million to the draft, and another $5 million just for emergency money. I mean you have to factor those types of things in. Teams don't have as much cap space as some thing.

4) The NFL is a league that is known as not for long. Great teams have fallen off and terrible teams have risen up. Just the way this league works. The Broncos are a great example. In 2011 they had the 2nd pick in the NFL draft. Obviously this past year they won the Super Bowl. Not many would have been predicting that 5 years ago. Carolina had the 1st pick in the draft and they were in the Super Bowl this past year. So just because your team had a promising season this year with a young QB doesn't mean future success is a guarantee. Heck just look at Washington as a great example. RGIII had one of the best rookie seasons the NFL has ever seen. They also had a promising young RB that shocked the NFL. Well a blown knee quickly ended what looked to be a promising group.

Yes the Cowboys have a great opportunity ahead of them. They have some promising young talent at some great positions. To think beyond 3 years though is just ridiculous.

Really Sean King that is the comparison you are going with? At least pick someone who put up good stats.

My bad, I went with a Rookie QB who actually won a Playoff Game. But stats mean more, like 2015 Blake Bortles huh?

If you are really comparing Dak and Sean King there isn't much to discuss with you because you are either incapable or unwilling to have an intelligent conversation on the topic

This reminds me of all the Seahawks threads boasting a future dynasty after Russell Wilson's first year...

I actually thought they had a chance with a coach, QB and defense. However, their D-line became old, Beast Mode died, RW was paid so they couldn't afford an O-line and the LOB turned into the legion of bitches.

Nope not going to happen. There's no D in little d. Sorry, that Defense is straight out of the Garbage.

THIS coming from the fan of a team with a WORSE defense than Dallas?

C'mon man, even YOU aren't this stupid

Dallas is a LOT different.

One, with the exception of Prescott, all the star talent on the offensive side of the ball is ALREADY paid. The Seahawks basically gave up their OL to pay the LOB players. They never had much of an offense outside of Wilson and Beast Mode.

So once Lynch retired......that was it.

Dallas isn't in that position at all. The OL is locked up until 2023. They don't HAVE to pay Prescott until 2020. That allows them to add to the defense. All they really need is a pass rush. The secondary is good enough to hold up IF they can get a rush. They'll also need another LB or two. They don't have to be dominant......just good. Right now they're middle of the pack, LITERALLY in the NFL.

Doug Free is a FA after this next season, Zach Martin is a FA after this next season, and La'el Collins is a FA after this next season. So 3/5ths of the OL is not locked up until 2023.

Collins and Martin are locked up.

Free is most likely gone, and he is replaceable. The only SURE things on that line are Smith, Frederick and Martin. That line is going nowhere.

Point still stands. Dallas has the ability to build the defense the right way. They'll be fine. Still nothing like what happened to Seattle.

Please show me where they signed a long-term deal for Collins and Martin? Both are still on rookie contracts right now.

This is very much like what has happened in Seattle. The Cowboys have focused on the Offensive side instead of the defensive side then are hoping for draft picks to develop to keep the defense going. Right now they can still pay some more players because of Dak and Elliot on rookie contracts but yeah once they actually get paid more choices will have to be made of where to just hope draft picks work out.

Yes they're on rookie contracts. But if you think either of them will ever leave Dallas I don't know what to tell you. Those guys will be signed longterm, but we're not talking QB money here.

Nothing like Seattle. Paying a top end CB, safety, and DE isn't the same as a guard. Dallas will pay top money but they aren't going to be anywhere near the situation Seattle was in.

Well top guard money in the NFL right now is $11.7 million a year. So if you keep both Collins and Martin that is $23.4 million.

Right now top safety money in the NFL is just $12.5 million. So real close to guard money. Yes Corner is more expensive but right now Seattle is paying Bennett well below market value for DE at less than $10 million a year for the next few years.

So I would say just looking at that pretty even on that front.

Well I guess we'll see. I don't think Collins will command that type of money, he hasn't really proven it yet. Martin will - and he's earned every penny.

Dallas is really a LB and DE away from being a very difficult team to beat.

I'm not sure exactly how many teams pay top dollar for both guard positions, but it certainly isn't many.
