Basically agree - the financial damage of all this could go well beyond the 2014 pay due to all of the coaches (& as you mentioned previously the chances of getting out of these contracts is slim).
And let me just ask, what kind of message does that send if he fires Shanahan now?? What it says is, the QB is really the guy in charge. Not the coach. You cant seriously say the coach has final authority, then fire him for benching a player. No coach in his right mind would want to step into this mess at that point. If you really want another fiasco, hope for Shanahan's firing over the next week.
