Basically agree - the financial damage of all this could go well beyond the 2014 pay due to all of the coaches (& as you mentioned previously the chances of getting out of these contracts is slim).

And let me just ask, what kind of message does that send if he fires Shanahan now?? What it says is, the QB is really the guy in charge. Not the coach. You cant seriously say the coach has final authority, then fire him for benching a player. No coach in his right mind would want to step into this mess at that point. If you really want another fiasco, hope for Shanahan's firing over the next week.

Rg3 is not playing THAT poorly? lol. Do you watch the games? I hope kirk plays well to show you guys it would have been a different season if he was the week 1 starter.

Dean, for your sake I hope he does to. If he doesn't, this will go down as another inane rant of yours similar to the one about us making a mistake by taking Rambo in the 6th when we could have taken him in the 4th. BTW, still think Rambo was a 3rd round talent?

I disagree. What it says is Snyder is in charge and will not allow the organization or the players to be used as pawns over a few million dollars. It shows, to me, that Snyder has learned and matured.

I thought Thomas was a better prospect than Rambo. Rambo really looks bad. I never said it was a mistake to take Rambo in the 6th.

Dean, you could have said that at the begining of the season, but he improved as the season went on. He is NOT the reason we stink. Poor play callining, horrendus special teams and defense are far bigger reasons. I'm not saying RG3 has been stellar, but he does not deserve to lose his job.

The other guy from the ESPN board was a big Rambo fan. I was a big fan of Swearinger and Thomas.

brock, he has not improved as the season went on. He cant sustain drives and put points on the board. Im so happy that Cousins is getting a shot in shannys offense.

j_y.... I think thats your love for the player and not the best interests of the team talking a bit there. If the owner fires the coach for a player decision he disagrees with based on three otherwise meaningless games, the owner has learned nothing. And I would be willing to bet, on the off chance RG3 played and got injured in these last three games, you would all be taking out contract hits on Shanahan. NO one is questioning Roberts position going forward. Logically its sound to sit him and let him get actually healthy going into the off season. If the Broncos sat Manning for the last two games because in the long term his health was more important, no one would blink. Every one sees this as some kind of affront or assault against the poor QB. Any other position where a guy as doing more harm than good you would e screaming for him to be benched at half time three weeks ago.

Yep - over the long haul I don't believe that it will matter whether he is fired this week or next month. The damage is already done. I think that one thing that could be done to help control a lot of this is for the combination of Snyder & Allen to put their heads together & hire a true GM as quickly as possible. That person would then be given full control to hire the next coach & assemble personnel. I believe that Snyder realizes that there are certain steps that need to be taken to avoid previous mistakes and put the organization in the best possible light (for the sake of fans, players, future coaches, etc).

Shark, you must have missed some of my posts. I'm ok with RG3 not playing. But Dan is firing mike. This has become a circus. It is imperative that Dan stop this, no matter who is at fault. Dans responsibilty is to the organization and at this point, this fiasco will do nothing but further the damage already inflicted. End it now.

SoCal, I hear what you are saying, but the worst thing dan can do know is to rush to hire anyone. Maybe he should announce his plans to first hire a GM, but don't rush to do it, do due diligence.

jy how are you ok with the benching for rg3? You have defended this guy every week and always say we have the best chance to win with rg3 playing. You are talking out of both sides of your mouth now.

Because I've come to the conclusion that in this fiasco, rg3 will not learn anything. Go ahead and protect him. I'm ok with it now.

Personally - I don't really have a problem with the benching of RG3 - I just seriously question the motive given some of the other alleged things attributed to Shanahan. Oh well - it doesn't matter - this current coaching staff is toast & I won't lose any sleep over it. Also - last time I checked the problems with this team go well beyond RG3.

If you believe that a certain player is a prima donna - well that can be corrected - look at the Panthers. Time to move on.

It's about time as a matter of fact back in Sept I was one of a few here that beleived Cousin should start. But many here beleive RG3 need the reps, well I am thinking of giving my team the best chance to be in the hunt for the playoffs. So I would have taken the chance with KC in Spet.

The Lions game ways enough for me. RG3 just did not look right with the knee brace. I am from Dallas ( a Texan) and a longtime Skins fan and was happy when we drafted RG3. However a coach has to make hard decision which will put your team in the playoff hunt and RG3 was not the answer at least for this season. RG3 will be better but KC should have started along time ago besides he has the potenial.

This is exactly what I fear back in Sept. A long losing season and having to deal with all these cowpoke fans here in Big D. Hopefully we can beat them in DC. That will be my only saving grace.

you are on record saying that he needs more playing experience to get better. lol. cmon man. sounds like a cop out to me. How is it a fiasco when the coaching staff is still intact? If Cousins wins the finally three games would you finally agree with me that it would of have been a different season with KC in there from week1?

I understand what you are saying, but that is only in this moment. It won't necessarily appear this way several months down the road especially if they hire a GM. I trust that most players want this chapter to be over regardless (i.e. get the season over). Notice in my reply I referenced the fans, players, future coaches, etc. I mentioned nothing about the media since I don't believe in their eyes it matters. They will portray the Skins (and everyone associated with them) in a negative matter regardless.

I agree redskins 4209. I felt that RG3 should of been benched after the Lions game also. He should of never started week 1. It was all hype "all in for week1 one"

I was. And if this fiasco hadn't happened, I would still be of that mind. But situations change which can change thinking. My change in thinking has nothing to do with a belief that cousins gives us a better chance of winning.
