well you can have that opinion . i think it is way too early to make that claim . he isnt just "some option qb "

also you need to know the difference between a "reason " and an "excuse "

i have no doubts as to whether he will be a stellar qb for us . the teams issue is to put players around him

next off season we should have resources to deal with that so we will see

You had no doubts Jason Campbell could make this team respectable either Skinsdad. So one has to have a critical eye with you and QBs. I have no doubt he will be a highlights QB for us (or whom ever he ultimately ends up playing for) Stellar.... i have a doubt. And here we are back to the not enough players around him excuse. We gave up 4 picks for him. So we thought he had enough talent to make up for the other three players we gave up to get him. Now in hind site, he needs more help??

Obviously you have never worked in corporate America where managers all the time are pushed to make calls that they feel are not the right call, but the boss over rules them. Sorry dude, but you dont quite a $7 million a year gig because the boss decides the shiny new toy is a must have. You deal with it as best you can and try to make it work. I buy alot more that Snyder ultimately wanted this trade to happen than Shanahan went against his normal BPA approach and decided to go all in on ANY player.

Oh....ok...well in corporate america they have contracts too, and when those are broken, the coporation pays up......We all know Mike has final say in all things...its in his contract....If he didnt want him, he didnt have to get him....then if he doesnt....then fire him and pay him the 3 years salary...simple enough....He wasnt scared by his owner into drafting him at all....

Like I said watt, you dont walk out on $7 million because your boss decides he wants to use a particular supplier and over rides you. You try and make it work. Mike did, it failed. Sorry but the trade had Danny big splashy move written all over. It went in the face of Shanahan player selection. Now Shanahan gets all the blame for doing what we all know Dan would have done any way??

Forget about this story - Shanahan should be fired due to that joke of a team that is he is currently overseeing (& it is not all about RG3). Please explain why you would retain this group of coaches.

Assuming Mike is not the source of the leaks:

The case to keep Mike as the head coach includes:

Injuries have played role in lack of production. Richard Carwford, Adam Carriker, Nick Sunberg, Brian Kehl, Keenan Robinson, Stephen Bowen, Leonard Hankerson, Phillip Thomas & Chris Thompson all would have had an impact on special teams and defense.

Kyle: if Mike goes so does his son. I believe Kyle is one of the brightest offensive minds in the league and we would be fools to let him walk away. Not to mention the challenge changing schemes can cause young QBs early in their career.

Players not executing. I've posted threads asking the black or white question earlier in the season who deserves the blame: the playcalling or the players. When you're playing back up players who do not block great, and in turn a punter is rushed into to not kicking great, I do not believe the answer is to fire the coach.

A franchise QB, suffering from a sophomore slump, rushing back from major surgery, without a complete off-season of practice ... is the perfect storm for failure.

Unprecedented 36 million dollar salary cap hit. While it is not to blame for all of the problem, it has defenitly contributed to the cause. From Lorenzo Alexander on ST, to the OL, to Aquib Talib and the secondary ... lots of issues where left unresolved because of the cap hit.

Sure, it sounds like a laundry list of excuses to keep Mike. I just feel, after going through 7 coaches in 14 years, the organization would benefit from continuity. Mike asked for five years to turn this ship around & Dan gave it to him. I feel that Dan should honor that agreement and give Mike one last year to see how things play out next season.

That being said, I do agree changes should be made. Dan must to invest in the personnel department, hire a true GM with player evaluation ability ... as my front office thread suggests.

Like I said shark......I dont think so......Danny didnt make the Selection...Mike did....Had he not done the deal.......Then it would have been on Dan to fire him, and owe him 3 years worth of Salary...Mike was Risking NOTHING by NOT making the trade....NOTHING!!! HE has final say....If the owenr didnt like what he was doing he could have fired him and paid him 20Mil......Mike had the power, and the owner by the short and curlies......

I will never believe this had Dan's fingerprints on it

Of course you wont. Because you want to believe it was a good move and Mike messed this up all on his own. Sorry but Snyders track record speaks louder than your hoping they didnt screw the pooch. When I hear reports Mike might not have wanted RG3, I do put weight behind it.

What did mike have to lose by Not making the deal....Lets see.....as you say the owner wanted the deal to be done.....so if he doesnt make the deal, and it pisses off the owner....the owner could fire him...and pay him 20mil to not coach........Where is the bad in that for Mike? Answer....there is none....

Now...Mike has had 2 back to back losing seasons, and he has come off a disaster by going with McNabb......He NEEDS a franchise QB to turn his and the teams fortunes around....He sees a guy in RG that is impressive in college, has great skills, can run and throw, is smart, and can be taught...... and he NEEDS that QB......he is sitting right there for the taking becasue the Rams dont need him.....He has got to do something...He, by contract, has final authority.......He makes the deal knowing that he and Kyle can make an offense he can do well in for year 1....year 2...offseason, work on those deficiences the qb has so they can make changes to the offense to better protect their investment.....but we all know what happened....the knjury and those plans of teaching and changing offesne had to be altered....unfortunaltey the defense figured out how to defend a less then 100% QB and and 3-9 is what you get.....

I had a discussion with my brother last night who still thinks Luck was better his rookie season. These are the facts people:

1) RG3 is not a better strict pocket passer than Andrew Luck and Russell Wilson.

2) He has more talent than both though.

3) Without his legs, you guys are right...the other QBs are better but he does have legs. He forced defenses his rookie season to play the run and it opened up the area over the LBs and before the safeties. He was a 70% passer his rookie season and had an unprecedented TD/INT ratio. There is plenty of reason to believe he can be this again.

4) There is also plenty of reason to doubt him. While I believe his 10% drop in completion percentage can be attributed to the mental side of his injury and he will recover, I have doubts about his work ethic. I'm not saying he doesn't work hard but I am saying he works hard on the wrong things.

He is an athlete...he doesn't have to work on being an athlete...it's natural. What is hard for some guys is studying the boring film and the boring playbook. It's not about being a gym rat for a QB...it's about being study whore.

Benching RG3 is the dumbest move by a Redskins coach I have seen in a very long time. Rg3 has not played THAT poorly, Kirk is NOT a franchise QB and our franchise QB cannot get the reps he needs to improve from the bench. Shanny has officially achieved moron status.

Unless Shanahan is doing this with the actual goal of getting fired soon. Another possible motive was mentioned this morning - if Cousins somehow succeeds (questionable) then Shanahan can use this to show other teams that the problem was not his offense - that it was more on RG3 (regardless of whether this is actually correct). Should be interesting as mentioned previously.

All rational thinking is out the window at this point. This is all about oneupmanship. If I was a player in this mess, I'd seriously consider having an unforeseen injury pop up......

If I were RG3, I'd say I'm fine with it and I understand why Mike is doing what he is doing (wink, wink).

OK, snyder. This is turning into a circus reminiscent of the last days of Zorn. Do the right thing for the organization, the players, and the fans. End this fiasco now. Do not let us become the laughing stock of the league again. Show some leadership and rise above the petty power struggle.

Basically agree - the financial damage of all this could go well beyond the 2014 pay due to all of the coaches (& as you mentioned previously the chances of getting out of these contracts is slim).
